I have only bordered with mulch & 4x4's. I never really did try to specifically "edge". I'm going to get one of those tools & try it out. I'm a 69 year old woman that wants her front yard to look better. I'm getting there & @annettecollins8005 you are an inspiration to me. Thank you for this video. This is much more cost effective that what I was planning.🌻🪴🌱🌷🌿

1. How fo you keep your beds weed free? 2. How do you keep your lawn so green & nice looking? 3. Suggestion: power wash your concrete. It will turm white after being power washed. Cheers.

Just the video I was looking for! Wondered about the first cut and then over seeding. I think my first cut wasn’t Low enough and some of the over seeding has not yet germinated. But it’s looking ok. I just wasn’t sure when to cut because I didn’t want to disturb the new seed. The first cut grass is now 10cm or more long. But might wait these next 6 days of work then I’ll cut. Hopefully the new seed will have set in. Thanks for the video! I’m going to look for the manual cutter now!

I eyeball the edging because my gardens are mostly all curving lines, nothing straight like your border garden. I've never actually used the proper edging spade/tool, I only use the straight edge shovel. Since I do have an edging spade though, I'll give it a try using both tools and see if it is any easier or quicker or a better result. Thanks for the video, your edging looks 👍

Your edging looks great! I have always admired yards that do this and wondered how it was done. As a female at 77, I rely on power tools in our hard southern clay. I have been just doing edging by taking the Sawsall and cutting straight down. May look into going back with an angle for the type of edging I want.. I thank you very much.

Great video. Just wondering why not just use a dethatcher rake without using the moss out. Or does killing the moss first make it easier to rake out? Thx

You're spot on with the watering being the issue (no pun intended). I live near you and I water once a week at 1". If the forecast is predicting crazy temps, I still do 1" in my weekly cycle, then add a 1/2" in late afternoon/evening in the zone when the sun isn't beating. This ensures water doesn't stay on the leaves and more importantly, that the grass knows to dig down for water. For example, people water each zone x mins per day, the water doesn't get down deep, and the roots aren't driven do dig - you end up with shallow roots, prone to drought damage, and also prone to disease. I recently dug out a new flowerbed extension, digging into my lawn. The roots were well beyond 7.5" deep in PNW clay, and I'm a million percent sure it's because infrequent watering. Don't get me wrong, my yard will win a contest between any yard in our neighborhood, but I make the grass work for it.

For more suction, see the Toro dealer and order what I call the "kicker" blade for the 21" super recycler, my neighbor had the same remarks about suction in lush grass. The "kicker" fit right on there like it was made for it. This solved the problem, I was a Toro dealer for over 25 years before we sold the store. Wished we'd had the 60 volt stuff to sell.

Any updates on tackling POA? Trying to decide how to deal with it. Sod cut it out or glypho with tenacity when I reseed, or just splurge on Velocity, or maybe some other concoction.

Looks great! a tip for the curve section is to drive your stake at centerpoint inside the bed then tie rope to it. Pinch rope at desired point and go from edge to edge in an arc, like a pencil/compass, you can mark with paint if desired then cut away paint. Your lawn is gorgeous!

I love my Stihl mini chain saw. I have the Milwaukee fuel system for everything else including stringtrimmer. My cousin is going to take the string off and put a hard plastic blade on so I can edge that way. At 77. I definitely need to use power tools at hard clay soil..
