You guys are all super! I have the utmost respect for the teaching profession and the military as a career, (my father was a middle school teacher) and I spent my time in the military as well. What impresses me most from listening to all 3 of you is that you are all young, very young to be so wise in the ways of life. To be giving the advice you give with the perspective you have, you would "normally" be in late or middle life, yet you are not. Keep up the learning and growing!

Just quitted my job in jan this year and hop to my 2nd company of my life within the same industry in March that offered me 60% increase in salary and today 23rd June I quit again, at first when I accepted the 2nd job I thought I will be happy with a much higher salary but after 2months I realized I’m not happy with my boring job and now pursuing my passion in helping people.

Quit my job in 2019 and never looked back. Life is much simplier and fuller now. The most satisfying thing was to see the surprise and blur look from my bosses when I quit. As regard to pay, you can adjust to what you have and live a more fulfilling life after retirement. Those who don't dare to try will never understand, this including my own family members who were still slogging their lives out at work, while I have lots of time for my hobbies and my own kids.

This video appeared timely on my suggested list since I've tendered on Friday, to pursue my passion. I think I am a blend between Qiuyu and Ken's perspective, but tipping slightly to the latter. Personally, the primary reason for leaving my current iron rice-bowl job, with decent salary is the difference in goals and objective between myself and the organisation. This triggered a cascade of effect that I finally decided it is not worth it anymore since it is to build someone's dream while delaying mine significantly. To be honest, I'm nervous as heck but yet at the same time, I have never felt this rejuvenated and excited in a LONG time. Only forward we go!

Once again you three have brought out very important self realizations and conversation that will be or at least could be extremely helpful to anyone at any stage in their life. So often the reason behind why someone does something or doesn't is hidden, but you three have peeled back the layers as to how you came to be where you are, your reasons, the ways and the thoughts that have led you each to the present moment. You didn't gloss over the potential hardships or trials but it also wasn't the focus. It was honest and encouraging. I am team Ken, and yet I am still looking for what to truly transition to. I haven't burned my boats, but I did cross a few bridges that only went one way, never to turn back. I hope many will take the time to get quiet and ask themselves if they are where they want to be, is there life as they thought it would be and if not what do they need to change, because it's only too late when your dead.

Recently I have been worrying a little too much (my gf complains of my mood swings), maybe because my contract is getting nearer as day goes by. Hi Cafe Money team, should an individual explore an unconventional career path first while in their early 20s (E.g. entrepreneurship/sales role) to see if it suits us OR should we start off with a stable 9-5 job first and do a switch after getting some financial security? Am a third year going to be fourth year uni student next year, and gave up the opportunity to study Masters although I was eligible for it. Somehow sometimes, I just can't help but feel rolling with the system with everyone else can undoubtedly also be a double-edged sword depicting complacency and content. It was a decision made in a night so sometimes I still look back and think about whether it's the right choice. At the same time, I guess sometimes being too comfortable could also be a form of great danger in itself. Still a little uncertain, but it's strangely refreshing to have chosen a path different from many of my batch mates! Ultimately, it sounds a little idealistic, but I hope to carve for myself a new adventure ahead which will hopefully be an exciting story to tell in time to come. Just leaving this here in public to remind myself that a decision was made and that there's no turning back!!!! (I just realized after typing that this has got nothing to do with job quitting LOL paiseh long chunk of words)

The truth is when you are only making $50k-100k a year, its not so difficult to quit to go for broke. When you are making $200k - $300k, its somewhat more difficult. If you are making like $500k up, its almost impossible to give it up. Age also makes a clearcut difference. Some professions are not for money. Eg..Teachers, Police, Fireman, military or defence people cannot be working to get rich. Its a duty and responsibility. We should respect these professions not for the money they make.

Should this individual invest more time to produce a better quality job or should he leave and find a job that does not require so much OT? The time that this individual invests in [sharpening his saw] improving his skills is not part of the 50+ hours.
