Since joining Salt Strong, and learning about leader lines, (Never used them back in the early 70’s), I use 30lb Ande Monofilament all of the time. Thanks for the post too, as always, Matt

I use suffix siege 14lbs for an all purpose leader. It’s abrasion resistance is great around structure and it has handled bull reds and big jack crevael. If I’m in clearer water may go to 8-10lb suffix siege.

For 40 years I used 30lb mono originally based on factory double rigged lures cane that way. Never caused a noticeable problem with lures ot live bait. Recently ran across a video underwater footage and that 30lb mono looked like rope. I switched to 15lb with exceptions for larger or toothy fish

The last few years I've been using the Kastking leader and have really been impressed so far with it's performance. For the same advertised strength it is slightly thinner so I go 20# and 40# . Would love to see Luke do one of his leader test on it. Tight Lines.

I noticed that you are using the wake bait with the treble hooks. Do you prefer those over the single hooks? I prefer mono leader as I break off far less than with flouro. Ande mostly or another premium mono. Thanks for what you do. Good stuff!

I like Ande or Triplefish mono leader, 20 lb up to 100, depending on what fish are around. For most fish 20 or 30 will do. Green or clear, it doesn't seem to make much difference. The thick stuff is just for trolling offshore where mackerel and cudas live.
