I swear amusement parks are the hottest places on earth, regardless of where they are located. The amount of times people (including me, multiple times) have gotten overheated during their visit to the point of blacking out or vomiting is ridiculous. Even in water parks, where you would think there's plenty of water to cool people off, but no it happens there frequently too.

Over on this side of the third rock, it's the law that amusement parks and similar entertainment venues MUST provide adequate free water for everyone visiting the venue at any particular time. No, you can't just provide lots of vendors who sell over-priced flavoured sugar-water. Plain drinking water must be supplied and it must be free, and there must be enough for everyone, all the time. Anything less will get the venue shut down, and very likely earn a huge fine as well.

As my name implies, I'm a chef, and have been cooking professionally for 17 years. The number of times that someone's tried to tell me that the ONLY way to cook something is via sous vide or instant pot. Yes, I've read those sponsored articles on Skillet, too. They're fairly compelling ads, indeed speaking very well to their general versatility. However, different cooking methods affect not only the flavor and texture, but the nutritional composition. So not only are you not going to get the same slow-smoked flavor out of sous vide ribs, but certain nutrients will be more difficult for the body to break down and absorb. Don't get me wrong, working in a ramen shop that went through 10-30 dozen poached eggs a day, there's no better way to maintain consistency than through the use of sous vide, and instant pot are great for the home for 'set it and forget it' cooking, but there is no single method that is best for EVERYTHING, and no amount of linking to sponsored content is going to change that.

@stannctforclearskin79774 жыл бұрын
Hanahaki Although the Chinese girl was wrong to say that, to be fair, whenever white people come to China they come off as a bit, I don’t know how to say this, nosy and a little rude? Compared to the rest of the world, some Americans seem to be loud and ignorant of their surroundings. They go up to strangers and start talking to them. Even if most of you aren’t like this, there are enough to leave a bad impression. Just because you are one nice white girl, and I’m not holding this against you, you are not the majority of white tourists or people that come to China. Of course we don’t expect you to speak Chinese because the majority of whites don’t. Forgive us for animosity or prejudice against you, it’s just that China and the U.S are maybe just a bit hostile towards each other, especially because you mock us on a daily basis like in this comment. Also, how does this connect to the video. Although you may be the ‘expert’ in mandarin, the other girl most likely has just as much expertise, and she speaks it everywhere on a daily basis. Although this an interesting happening, it doesn’t really tie in to this vid.

@@stannctforclearskin7977 it's funny that you mentioned that Americans walk up to random people and just start talking to them. That's actually something that a lot of the world has noted about us, and it's pretty much a 50/50 split between people that love it and hate it from what I've been able to gather in my limited experience through travel and reading online. That said, unless I'm misunderstanding the original poster, your comment doesn't have much relevance either. She said she was walking around in Chinatown, not a Chinese town, which would tend to imply that she was walking around in a nation other than China - you know, one of the many places where Chinese people aren't native to either. I get that you've had bad experiences, but I can't help feeling you chose the wrong person's story to make your stand on. Obviously, the original poster thought what you had to say had value, but I still think this wasn't an argument you were making in good faith, and therefore one which in and of itself comes across as overtly hostile for no justifiable reason given the presumed context.

@@mrbrazilian7172 there's actually no international law that universally defines where the edge of space is. For example, the US Air Force and NASA both use 80km/50mi as the cutoff point, whereas a lot of international organizations use something called the Kármán Line to define it (which is set at an altitude of 100km/62mi). One of the things preventing a clear delineation is that there isn't an abrupt end to the Earth's atmosphere. Rather, there's a gradual thinning of atmosphere until it reaches parity with the vacuum of space - though you wouldn't be able to survive without protective gear far sooner than either of those above-listed limits, both due to the low oxygen concentration as well as the immensely cold temperatures.

Shadivetsoty did a kind of neat video/set of videos about the Katana where he basically acted against both katana cultists and katana haters. The short version is the traditional Japanese smithong method sandwiched together different types of steel to make a useable weapon. The back is soft and the edge is hard so the sword doesn't just break when you use it. The hard edge of a katana holds a sharper edge than a western longsword could. However western weapons are overall sort of superior in the sense they are made of spring steel, which can take a lot of punishment without breaking. Traditional katanas are more likelu to bend or break just because of how they're made. Western swords can still bend, have their tips snap off etc. though. I used to do HEMA and saw it happen semi regularly. Granted we sparred with the same swords every week which means they were down faster than a sword back in the day would have. Swords are backup weapons so they would've been used occasionally for the most part back in the day.

I was obviously very confused, and then realized she got "Peloponnesian" and "Polynesian" mixed, which pissed me off a lot. And, she didn't know that I knew more about my ethnicity than her. I tried to tell her that A. the multiple Polynesian countries and Greece are almost all the way around the world from each other, B. That both civilizations didn't even know the other existed, and C. That (ancient) Greece started approx. 1900-1100 BCE. and the first Polynesians (Samoans, which I am) came around 3,000 years ago. She didn't believe me, so I legit brang her a globe, and when that didn't work, I had to get a teacher to show her that she was wrong. The next day after she was informed, I asked if she still believed I hated Greeks, and she said no. Thank God

Actually, that was his middle name, and he went by variations of his actual first name - William. My suspicion is that people see him identified as William Howard Taft in lists of presidents, but they only see Howard Taft. Edit: another thing is that people tend to give credit only to Teddy Roosevelt for the trust busting thing, but while he did set the wheels in motion for that, it was Taft who deserves to be recognized for his role in that. Indeed, he was so determined to stop the trusts, and he was so efficient in that respect, that he and his administration managed to start twice the antitrust lawsuits of Roosevelt in basically half the time!

I’ve had a couple of times like this! I work at a horse barn, and I myself have been riding for 10+ years. I’m not a professional, but I was trained by a world show winning professional trainer for about 5 years, and I’ve just recently been promoted to training some of the horses. And it’s very funny to see snobby kids come in for a lesson, and they see me jumping 4 foot verticals and they’re like “oh yeah I’ve done that before! It’s not that hard.” It’s pretty common to hear something like that, but this one time one of the other trainers caught this girl saying it and was like “oh really? Great we can jump today then!” Let me tell you... she went completely WHITE 😂

Woahwoahwoah "you can't distinguish between when autotune is turned on or off"? Excuse me? Alright while the guy's argument that autotune is garbage is just opinion, you are lying through your teeth if you think you can't detect it if you have the equipment to do so. I own several Electrostatic driver headphones, they are so sensitive, that you can tell when the artist has their equipment properly isolated from anything else on the same power grid. Autotune is easy to hear if your headphones are at or above the quality used for professional mixing and mastering.

If the singer is good enough, the voices can be as “often” or as good as indistinguishable, not indistinguishable itself is what he meant. And I mean, not everyone is wearing extremely sensitive headphones.

Bit geeky, but I’ve been in optics for a while now and once had a customer claim the reading area of varifocal lenses is too small and that he “knows someone” who’s a “mathematical genius” and could come up with something better......umm, probably would’ve been done by now dude, there are already very, very clever people who design lenses!

My dad is a Mechanical idiot. He gets so many things about Cars, their engines and makes so worng that he even has incorrect beliefs about Force induction types and what features a car line has: -He believes Turbos are under the car and Superchargers are outside of the hood and nothing else is right, even though a supercharger can be without a Blower up top and a Turbo can be literally ANYWHERE in the car and work properly. -He thinks the Mazda RX-8 (The entire series) has popups instead of regular headlights. When he tried to prove it, he showed me what he thought was an RX-8 with popups, but was actually a badly photoshopped red 458 Italia with F40 Headlights. I even showed him a proper RX-8 that passed us and he insisted that was a different car. It's like he's f*cking Stan Smith, "Irregardless" of what anyone else says about him, HE is right. XD Don't think I would've made it any longer with him in my life if I didn't leave him. He is a properly Horrid person and even my grandfather (Who raised him) understands where I came from with that, as well as the experiences he scarred me with.

After I told my dad that I had a redirection error that was hard to fix so he tells me he’ll ask his tech expert friend to fix it for me. Fixed it in an hour and he asked if I got any progress trying to fix it. I told him it’s working like it used to (a password was missing so when I access something it can use multiple accounts under one account and know which one to use)

@melkiorwiseman52342 жыл бұрын
If I understand correctly "Africaans" is what is known as a ConLang or Constructed Language and is a derivative of another ConLang, Pidgin English. Technically, it's not really a language but is just a regional variant of English. Also, there is another language, Swahili, which I believe is also used throughout the African continent, so you could say that there are at least two contenders for the title of "The African Language" if there are any at all.
