Extra info. I'm Bulgarian from the city of Plovdiv. One day I was going to a restaurant near one of the most luxurious hotels in the city, the Imperial hotel, property of the than mayor of Plovdiv Ivan Totev. I was drinking my beer and I saw maybe 10 super fancy cars parking in front of the restaurant. Once the cars were parked, some probably extremely wealthy people got out (massive jewellery, heavy golden watches, the whole thing). After that, seemingly from nowhere a group of about 20 young people came out, all wearing onecoin t-shirts, they were probably the staff and also the translators. It was an international gathering. There where people from Spain, Italy, Germany and so on. They all gathered in the restaurant stayed there for about half an hour and after that they all made their way to the Imperial hotel just 200m down the road. The scam is still ongoing...

Female last names normally end in the "feminine form" - meaning they get an "a" or "ja" at the end. Male Last names end in a consonant. @@therioq123 that is making money so let’s say they paid 10 k for the rig and they made 10k in crypto and then they sold the rig for half what they pay for….at the end they would be left 15k which 5k more then they started with, but they probably made more in crypto then 10k if they bought a 10k rig which is at least a gigahash worth of mining right their, and that assuming they sold in June they could have sold the rig itself at 10k or more back in March lol

The crazy part for me personally about this whole story is that Konstantin Ignatov is an old acquaintance of mine. We were never friends or anything like that but we knew each other and went to the same nightclub when I was around 18 years old. I think it was in 2019 when I first even heard of this story and his envolvment from one of my best friends and I was absolutely baffled.

I know what you mean. Remember the whole "Iclip" portmornee where you could store cards and bills but not hard cash? The lead CEO was a good friend of a student collegue of mine and we used to do little promotional events to help him out. Half a year later we discovered that he severely underpaid his staff and ran away with the companies tax return money. He turned from sympathetic nice guy into full on demon boss. He was an absolut dick afterwards and fired all of us calling us whor*** and worse. Another half a year later and he got sued by one of his bigger investor on the case of fraudulent advertisement and tax fraud. Story was wild. I learned that you never know what someone intentions are. Think for yourself and don't just invest in the first semi-sci fi idea that sounds fun and comes around.

In all the videos I've seen of her no one has ever shown any significant proof that she actually landed in Greece. The article itself, which is referenced has only confirmed the Bulgarian leg of the flight. I'm surprised that no one is mentioning the fact she was known to be rich at that time, including by the Bulgarian police as they raided her company. In a country where the police is known to operate as a mafia and happens to be quite poor one should consider the scenario she got shot, disposed off and "put" on a flight out. Imagine being a cop in one of the most corrupt police forces and you see a billionaire, known to have stolen the money and have plenty of enemies walking down the street. Of course you would abduct and torture her to pocket as much money as possible. What's the worst that is going to happen? You'll get called to investigate your own crime? "Look, see she left the country. Those flight logs we control totally say this!"

For starters, governments know they don't have the industry knowledge to regulate said industries, so they pull members from the very companies they claim to be regulating. Basically they set up a security group to guard the henhouse by recruiting foxes. Second, there are many government run systems and nobody ever says, "Gee! I wish my trip to Starbucks was as convenient as my trip to the government's motor vehicles department." Third, have you ever heard of a government run system shutting down because it reached it's goal or do they just grow? Does your local government run aid for the homeless and has it reduced the number of homeless? Does it run an unemployment system that reduces unemployment? Fourth, how's your local government school system doing? Has the school system been churning out smarter and smarter kids and been rewarded for success or has it been producing underachieving, indoctrinated idiots and been rewarded for it's shortcomings with increasing budges and expanding bureaucracy?

The first scam she did in Germany is very reminiscent of the way our ex-rulers during the communist regimen would act. As soon as the USSR collapsed in 1989, those in power basically defrauded the entire population of Bulgaria and ran abroad with as much money as they could, then started a new life. I cannot confirm if her parents are ex-officials, but I suspect so, because they ran back in 1990. That is something most locals could never afford or even think of, because there were already a couple of generations that were used to living in complete isolation from the Western world and would not trust it, due to their programming. Her family being able to afford living there and educating their kids somehow is also pretty strange to me, because technically you should be broke and you are not going to be paid well as an immigrant in 90's Germany, that's for sure. Overall, I think that her scam was successfull not because its planning was that genius or something, but because she had strong connections (another possible indicator that she's not from a "standard" family) and because she used her charms to trick rich people to invest.

He actually had the nerve to come back here after decades and started giving interviews and spreading lies that he became a billionaire by starting out as a low paid construction worker without any engineering or other relevant education. The media here markets him as one of our national treasures that managed to find success by being a decent human being.

I thought more mention might be given to her brother Konstantin, as news reports i read at the time described him as already being involved with a serious organised crime syndicate/mafia. I remember the impression given at the time was she was fronting it for money but it was the syndicate her brother belonged to behind it all - in terms of European countries, Balkan gangs are known to be the most involved in online fraud anyway. I would strongly suspect she got murdered to maintain silence as soon as shit hit the fan.

Actually the mispell is brilliant. They also do that in fishing (the Nigerian Prince kind of scams), they cover up with mistakes to select only the people gullible enough to not care about them, which are generally easier to fish.

at my work there was one who advertised for onecoin and wanted to get as many people involved in it as possible. was kinda annoying but glad i didnt get myself involved in it. also the packages were expensive starting at 2500€ or something. might have been more but cant remember exactly since it was 5-7 years ago.

Excellent video. Well-narrated and very interesting. These times are so unique- there's a proliferation of scammers, con men, ponzi schemes and political cults. I blame the internet.....that miraculous tool that enables us to access exceptionally good information in real time also allows the less discerning amongst us to access any form of misinformation we desire. This latter "deficiency" is creating problems for individuals and society unlike anything we ever dealt with. I just hope we find ways to greatly reduce misinformation.

Even if you're average Joe isnt investing in Facebook, they still out money into things like Edward Jones and play the market. And large sums of money, like the millions-billions these scams pull in, will impact the market. Because now that money ISNT being traded at the levels it was, its sitting in an account waiting to get cleaned or for the heat to die down. Which means its functionally removed from teh market

To be fair, in the long run, crypto may attract larger hordes of individual speculators from the traditional stock markets. Prior to the advent of crypto market proper, individuals with money to burn go to the stock market, which depends on these hordes' speculative buying and selling to go up or down over medium to long term (depending on whether one is investing with hope the market goes up or down(short sell)).

I always made sure to get paid in actual money and not crypto. When the crash happened, the only loss I suffered was work drying up.

The logos (or captions) for bigcoin and bitcoin are reversed on the 'centralized vs decentralized' slide at 4:28. Bigcoin is incorrectly pictured next to the caption about 'decentralized exchanges' as Kira is describing it as a centralized exchange. Unless this is maybe a john oliver-like 'And it's so confusing that you didn't even notice that they were backwards here' sort of thing that's going to make me look silly in the next 10 minutes.
