Yea and it's clear as day that it was a cover up. Clearly bitcoin founder is working with them to launder the money thru bitcoin therefore raising the price, the reason they don't seize bitcoin is because it's "clean" money but clearly its dirty money and the term "clean" is just used to cover up the scheme.

What if the goal was never to cash out the bitcoin, but instead make it seem like it was being laundered, and the reason it's sitting spread out across multiple exhanges is for the purpose of market manipulation? With amounts that large, you would be able to pump any coin you wanted, if you didn't care about losses on the accounts with stolen coins. Not to mention the tag alongs would end up holding some of the bags, thinking they were trading legitimate price action. You could coordinate to trade in the same coin pairs, and with outside crypto and clean wallets move the value without a direct link to the dirty coins. Just food for thought.

Trading on a demo account can definitely feel similar to the real market, but there are some differences. It's important to remember that trading involves risks and it's normal to face looses sometimes. It might also be helpful to seek guidance from experienced traders or do some research on different trading strategies.

Just from my own experience I can assure you that there's big % of BTC that is gone for good. I was mining BTC on my gaming pc the very first months of its creation, just for the sake of novelty. So did my friends who found out about it. Back in a day you could mine hundreds if not thousands of BTC a day... But at that point there was no real value anyone could perceive in it. The only thing you could buy with it was drugs on Tor network. But even that was sketchy af, because we were young and even if we wanted to try ordering something it was too scary to even attempt such thing being delivered to your address so, I stopped mining. I bet that my wallet alone would account for a small percentage of all of the BTC market. Unfortunately, that wallet could never be recovered.

You can make money out of stolen bitcoin parked on centralised exchanges by taking a loan and using the stolen bitcoin as collateral. Thats probably why they broke it up in chunks and put it on different public exchanges. The caveat is they have to pay the loan back but can invest real money (in crypto again) to make profits and live a luxurious life. As long as they don't default or bitcoin crashes completely it won't be necessary to cash out the stolen bitcoins.

Yeah, you're just rewording why I disagree with your initial comment, as the thing I said in the video you're referencing is not aimed at the people you're then saying forgot. Again, to be clear, since your reply seems to indicate you didn't understand, people in crypto do not remember or discuss this. This is why it's weird and why I mentioned it in the video, making your comment about other people not applicable. As other hacks are discussed, frequently, and widely known in the space. This one isn't. Meaning it has nothing to do with how losses are handled.

Glad to see Kira using the open distributed ledger for his investigation and believing everything he is seeing. Crypto is all suppose to be a scam though. Also, Tornado Cash did not tumble BTC (just an FYI). TORN is/was an ETH project that at best could tumble WBTC. So one would have to put the BTC in a virtual machine that would give WBTC, then you would have to tumble through TORN. Correct me if I am wrong.

It may be as simple as the original hackers no longer having a decent chunk of those funds - could they not have spent it at places that accept bitcoin? This would also explain why so much is sitting in exchanges…

Why don't people just convert to Monero?
@KiraTV1
@KiraTV1 4 ай бұрын
What would that accomplish? There's still an entry point of the bitcoin and then you still need to find a way to cash out the monero to cash. The monero wouldn't be publicly traceable, but any offramp would either not have enough volume to facilitate moving any sizeable amount(plus create connections to other people who are now weak points for you) and/or have a web 2 footprint linking you to it.
@apocalypticpioneers2116

Ok, recently I've watched a video about one of the largest bank heists in Japan's history and one detail from it may explain a lot here, so here's a speculation of mine: The entire hack might have been done within Japan's borders and possibly investigated by only Japan's law enforcement. That could explain why during the exchange of stolen coins only people from Japan who've purchased those coins were arrested. Going back to the video I mentioned earlier, apparently Japan has a 10 year period where they can investigate and persecute people for the crime. After that period, law enforcement drops the investigation and people responsible for the crime can't be persecuted and still can keep the money. That makes me believe that hackers (probably working in Japan) are simply waiting for the case to expire so they can legally cash out all the funds. And all those transfers are done only to make the investigation hard and decrease the chances of finding out people responsible.

What if they are waiting for the statute of limitations to run out, I checked and its only 15 years in Japan or 30 years if the crime is punishable by Life imprisonment. So in 9 more years they can freely spend the cash and who knows how much its going to be worth by then billions maybe, that kind of money has a lot of power attached to it

I would say, that it means the investigation is still ongoing, agents are waiting. And hackers obviously know this, which is why the cash is there and is so toxic and dangerous to withdraw it, that it will stay there.

If I'm seeing this correctly the mastermind isn't worried about the large sums it's a distraction. He knew he'll never get it. Kira you need to track the shorter transactions happening he knows he can't get 980 million so he's getting 98 million out in chunks at a time then probably release the rest to wallets or just turn it in. Cause at this point he has made most of the original hack amount in stock price n counting. See the little transactions bet they've been cashing out 5 millions while you're looking at the 100 millions.

@@KiraTV1 interesting... doesn't make sense. Either they don't know how to get it out cause they don't have any exit strategy or they already caught all but one or two n they're waiting for the mastermind who was the caught one to tell them how to. Probably the latter. And it's a close close friend or relative cause no one in they're right mind would trust 980 million to just a dude im the crew. Lmfao...
@KiraTV1

There's really 0 exit strategy that exists. That's sort of the point. Any way to take it off the chain would create links to the real world, which is where law enforcement would be tracking people and not Bitcoin. There's zero evidence to suggest anyone had been caught.
