One of my favorite under-rated (maybe) songs was Olivia Newton John and David Foster "The Best Of Me." They made a beautiful song that sounds so quintessentially David Foster and yet so ONJ. I found it a bit odd that Loggins seem to have no historical reference when referring to Steve Perry as though he had 'just discovered' his vocal abilities in the studio when Journey had already put out several high end albums (Infinity, Evolution, Departure and Escape) by 1982 with Perry on lead vocals. Steve Perry's vocal prowess 'should' have been well known to Loggins by 1982 unless of course he had never heard "Wheel in the Sky", "Open Arms", "Don't Stop Believin", "Stone in Love", "Who's Crying Now", (and later "Faithfully", "Mother, Father", "Separate Ways", "Send Her my Love," etc.) or any of the other hits by Journey. Journey was in their prime by 1982, and probably the most popular rock band at the time, primarily due to Steve Perry' s out of this world vocal abilities. Very strange that Kenny seem to almost be oblivious to this fact. He had to wait to get Steve Perry in the studio in the year 1982 to finally realize that Steve Perry was "amazing" as he said? He should have known that long before. I should say that I do like Loggins stuff. Don't want to be too hard on the guy. Oh, the duo with Perry was excellent by the way!!:)
@vjfeefeecat5863 жыл бұрын
Yes I thought that too 😂😂 I had to go double check the release date of the duet ....
