It was hard thinking this tournament was a Jrs tournament. Every game was a slug fest and the skill was better than some NHL teams. This was the best game in town for sure.

The juniors are just so free flowing, and have WAY less structure than the NHL which makes it super exciting to watch haha. So much more space to pull off creative moves.

Nice break down and video. There's no doubt the Finns celebration definitely lit a fire in team USA. It was a dramatic and exciting tournament. You're right about how the number of different countries that have a legitimate chance to win gold makes a significant difference. USA!! 🇺🇸

Damn, i didn't noticed that celebration during the game! Good point on pissing off your opponent might end up on your own demise. Real psychology lesson for all team sports. After 1st period, i was sure Finland is mentally strong enough to not let it slip it away, but better team won. USA was way more fearless in overtime, they were willing to risk it in order to win, imo that was the key reason why they deserved the Championship. U20 Junior Hockey Champ's is such an awesome event, one of the best team sport tournament's on the planet!

It was such a subtle moment that I don't blame you for missing haha. Tough loss for your boys, but they almost pulled it off. Rimpinen seems like he has a bright future ahead!

@@CunuckHockey Rimpinen was eligible for previous draft, but was not drafted. I'm surprised if he doesn't sign NHL contract for next season.

Goalies are just difficult to scout and draft in general, and always seem to bloom later than other skaters. So I wouldn't be surprised if he's picked up by a team down the road like you said

Of the 3 or 4 recap videos I've watched before this one, none of them mentioned that celly as a turning point. Good call! I think the USA was already on their turning point, but that bit of taunting probably helped the motivation a bit. As a USA fan, I was so nervous with all the shots they were taking and thinking Finland would get surprise OT goal on the first or second shot they took.
@CunuckHockeyКүн бұрын
Yeah I'm surprised that celly wasn't talked about more either tbh! And honestly, it felt like the Finns barely touched the puck in OT so you guys were pretty safe haha. Clinical stuff by your boys in OT

Augustine's glovehand...woof! Better fix that shit asap or he'll have a career in the ECHL.

Celebrating a goal, is taunting?

Yea especially that celly that turned the Americans to win back to back

@NativeHawaiian the fins scared the hell out of us in the first and second

Haha not always, but this did seem like a clear jab at the Americans considering they did the same celebration the night before in their semifinal

I love a tournament where any number of teams have a legitimate chance at winning it. Nothing is more boring than knowing before it starts who is going to win and then watching them do it by lopsided scores. Canada will be back, but I don't want to see one country win this tournament four or five straight. Even three is too many. Maybe next year I cheer for Finland, Sweden or Czechia.
@CunuckHockey5 сағат бұрын
Yep, I think the tournament is the healthiest it’s ever been in terms of competition. Next year should be a lot of fun with the US going for a threepeat and Canada, Finland, Czechia, Sweden doing what they can to prevent it haha
@tracyfrazier74402 сағат бұрын
The tournament is in USA next year; in Minneapolis so please everyone, show up and root for the home team. I hope to be there, but it will be nerve wracking because it will be a prime setup for a Canada victory.

As an American, I wholeheartedly concur. However, the Finns were excellent, and the goalie stood on his freakin head, so props to them.

Zero evidence that Finnish taunting had anything to do with USA winning.
@CunuckHockey5 сағат бұрын
I think the fact that the game flipped on its head right after that moment should be evidence enough. The Finns were carrying play until that moment

It may be just that the americans didn't want to lose.

Never a wise move to give your opponent fuel. Findland thought they won the game with their third goal, but they got a dose of competitive reality when Team USA put its game in overdrive.🏒
