Imagine a world where the Dutch empire expanded its reach beyond Europe and dominated South America. Take a look at this 'Geography map' to explore how their colonies, trading posts, and strategic locations might have shaped the continent's history and development. Could the Netherlands have influenced the cultures and politics of South America in a way similar to Spain or Portugal?

Iberian Union? Portugal was the enemy because it had joined Spain. That's why it got attacked and the war was why the Dutch Republic bothered with the Americas and Asia in the first place. The English attacked Dutch merchant ships because they couldn't compete in the European trade.
