Liz is naive to a fault and that makes her stupidly dense in a sense, although, she seems to be clever enough to realize that what Alice said was constructive criticism, let's see if she is clever enough to overcome her naive denseness.

I think it’s her being naïve is what made the MC hate her as well. Makes it worse that everyone around her is playing along. Let’s just let a bunch of criminals free and I’m sure everything will be fine!!! That will fix all our problems. Well half of them weren’t even criminals, but you also know that place gets rather violent at times. Mc has been going there for years at this point you can’t just release them and expect everything to just work itself out. 🤷‍♂️ That said the MC seems rather dense herself. 🤷‍♂️

Liz comes off to me as a very well intentioned, but ultimatelly thoughtless and naive person. :\ She is not prideful or stubborn to not reflect on her mistakes when someone points them out to her, She IS willing to learn from them and become better. The problem is that *_most of the people surrounding her are just mindless glazers who basically just keep repeating_* "you can do nothing wrong" *_and that doesn't help her grow at all._* Granted, she doesn't let that get over her head or become arrogant or anything, _but she also never stops to think and reavaluate her plans and ideas. EVER._ If Alicia didn't come around and smack her in the face with a dose of reality, Liz would've just kept going with her plan until it all fell apart! *And by that time, it would be too late to rectify anything!* I like the dynamic between Alicia and Liz because I feel that BOTH characters can grow and learn a lot from each other. For Alicia, _well, it's mostly that she sees Liz as this "ideal Heroine" whom she must overcome as her _*_fated rival._* 🤷‍♂ For Liz, she's confronted with someone who can finally tell her the harsh truth to her face, no glazing or sugarcoating, which is actually benefitial for her to learn more and become more mature. There is potential for both of them to develop together! *Assuming those goddamn fanboys don't get in the way constantly.*

It does feel like she's basically taking all the cool aesthetic and free-spiritedness villains are loved for, and removing all the actual villainy that makes them reprehensible. Which actually makes for a pretty cool literal anti-heroine. Also, her role makes me think of a court jester, or more specifically the jester's privilege, in that she's supposed to say what others are too afraid/polite to speak out loud. Which reminds me, I don't remember seeing any fictional settings with court jesters fulfilling that role, and I wish there were more characters like that.

Alicia is more than likely going to end up being a kind but rude anti-hero at the end of the story something similar to Deadpool and the Punisher, but less violent and 4th wall breaky. Also the guy who's eye glowed during the debate, I though at first he had broken out of the plot armor trance but maybe he was set to a new story path like you said. If so it give a similar vibe to parts of Villainess Level 99 where the heroin kept going into a trance to complete elements of the story.

It's a matter of perspective, her "villainous" personality. And I must applaud the king's cunning, who chose the best possible person to be the "bad girl" that brings a dose of reality to the airhead heroine. Yes, her manner of delivery still needs some work. But she is now technically the "villainess" she wanted to be.

@@MrDibara but that’s the beautiful thing because I feel Alicia is a villainess in line with myself. Simply being a contrarian within reason to what others view as ideal can be viewed as one being a villain but at the same time Alicia positions herself and frames it so perfectly that her constructive(meant to be destructive) criticism actually builds a stronger heroine than I’m certain she’s anticipating. I’m excited to see how this builds up and equally excited to see how it ends.

@@YonatanTheGift And I am totally in favor of that development! 😊 In many ways, I think both Alicia and Liz can grow and learn a lot by interacting together, even if (or SPECIALLY if) they are not on the same page. Alicia keeps getting motivated to constantly outperform Liz and one-up her, which to her is specially true when confronting the the heroine with her own flaws. Liz can finally interact with someone who is not a yes man and will not only tell her the harsh truth, but do so in an eloquent, argumentative way where she can see where "the villainess" is coming from and where was Liz doing wrong. Something she desperately needs to mature, *but won't get with those mindless glazers surrounding her.* I'm looking forward to more interactions between them and how they will shape both characters in the future! _But for now, we're probably gonna have to deal with some over-the-top neurotic fanboys out to get "revenge for the Saintess"._ 🤦‍♂

Lovely episode which made me love Alicia even more. I like how she acted at school, and she was right to be “rude” to those girls as they did not know about personal space. So if anything they have a bigger reason to say sorry than her. Also that dialogue between Alicia and the heroin was like a discussion between a naive optimistic and a realist. As what Alicia said makes so much more sense. And I really love how she point out the flaws out just saying nice things for virtue signals. So now I can respect Alicia more. Also funny how she consider a villainess to basically be a strong progressive woman. And how she ended up saving another person from this village and making them work for her. As well as making sure that Gill could leave this village to get a more proper education as her servant

@@MrDibara That reminds me of a bit of otome games history, which included Angelique. That game featured Rosalia de Catargena as the female antagonist, and she competed with titular Angelique (and player character) for the position of a queen. Both were given the same mission and the one to complete it quicker would become the queen. If Angelique followed the romance route, she would fail to become the queen, but I presume in the grand scheme of things Rosalia would serve the country just as well as Angelique - basically, her shoving it in the heroine's face that she can do a better job is the whole point of examination to choose the best queen possible. Perhaps the ideal Alicia strives to be is of competence, realism and ruthless efficiency that someone like Rosalia would represent (note: I don't know how much of these traits Rosalia had), rather than someone being a jerk, let alone actually doing heinous things? But of course, people around her hear the word "villainess" without any otome games history context and her being somewhat oblivious to what actual villainy is. It's an interesting mix, for sure. ^^'

I suppose I see what you mean. Indeed, Alicia refusing to apologize for being rude to Liz's new friends is probably the closest to an "evil villainess" act that she's performed yet, it definitelly was petty enough, _but I just don't think it was her BIG villainess moment._ Nah, I think the most _villainessy_ thing that Alicia (the Villainess) did was confront Liz (the Heroine) on the naivery and lack of thought of the latter's plan for equality on society. Liz in a way represents what a lot of us would aspire to do, fight for a more equal and just society. But the thing is, just like otome heroines, neither Liz nor us usually think on the *hows* to make that reality come true, or about as close to come true as possible. THAT's what Alicia confronts Liz about and it's a very good adversarial obstacle. As the villainess, she presents the heroine with a challenge she must overcome, the flaws and gaps in the heroine's well intentioned plans, which is a good opportunity for Liz to learn and grow. I personally believe that THAT is as vital a role for the villain archetype as any other! Aside from opposing the hero, the villain should also present a reason for the hero to push forward, just like Darth Vader pretty much humbled Luke Skywalker during "The Empire Strikes Back", demonstrating how he wasn't ready, which lead to him becoming wiser, calmer, more composed and consequently more powerful during "Return of the Jedi". The villain helped the hero grow despite opposing them, and that's what I see Alicia doing with Liz here. And it's why I loved this Episode so much! ☺

I loved the name of this episode, it really was a monster attacking someone unprepared, she absolutely trounced the heroine in her logic. The Alicia is finally becoming a villainess. As for what happened during the tea party I wonder if another thing besides plot armor, I wonder if maybe the heroine has a sort of magic effect on others that make them blindly follow her, like how a cult follows a false god without question. Then when the one person has that effect, maybe it was broken off of him for a second. Just a guess but still. But overall this episode Alicia finally is getting somewhere, I’m proud and can’t wait for next week.

I bet that's what's going on, too. It was explained that Liz has an obscene amount of mana. She's probably got a passive charm skill that she doesn't even know she has that makes those around her follow her blindly. The prince and Alicia both probably have enough mana that it doesn't affect them (I include the prince there because he's obviously into Alicia and not Liz, when everyone else is totally captivated by Liz). Those on the borderline with how much mana they have can probably shake it off once they realize it's happening. The flashy eyes happened right after Alicia pointed out "this thing right here is so obviously dumb, how come nobody pointed it out to you?" and the person it happened to was probably someone who knew that was dumb and the comment suddenly made him realize "wait, why *didn't* I point that out?" And he's probably borderline got enough mana to resist if he realizes it, so he snapped out of it. The interesting thing, I think Liz actually got convinced. The look on her face said she realized the issue once it was explained. Which means the king was right on target bringing Alicia in there. Liz is a fundamentally good person, she just needs someone with enough mana to resist her charm that can point out her flaws and help her improve them.
