Great Bro, Iwas 16 when first heard it(4 track car stereo). Vocalist/ lead ax in a band. Hearing the intro blew my mind was first time smoking a jay. Never imagined I would ever be able to play it. I suffered a stroke and left side paralyzed can't play ax any longer. However, forming a band currently, and learning songs on keyboards, (only melody, left hand paralyzed), thanks to you I now play this rather well. Congrats, well done in an easy way for me to learn it. Thanks a lot.

Thank you for doing this... it helps sooo much... Stan

Whilst I admit that I am definitely no piano player (I wish I was) but I have to just point out a minor correction if I may..... On the bass line, the second repeat should have a double tap on the pinkie finger low note. That's the only thing I can really say. Other than that! AWESOME!!!!!!

Hey Rob, I am a bit late to the game here since you put this up 13 years ago apparently. Nonetheless, I am playing a lot more keyboard lately though my main instrument is guitar. The Doors are really one of the reasons I got into music to start. This is really gold. Your hand independence is especially admirable. It certainly was one of Manzarek's outstanding appitudes. Best and keep on rockin'.

absolutely amazing mate yamaha motif xs are unbelievable for emulating vintage keyboard sound piss all over nords and korg workstations that sound is exactly as Ray Manzarek played on his Gibson keys over 40 years ago the CP70 and Wurlis are amazing ive never played a workstation so accurate and i happen to own a CP70B im a believer that digital emulations cannot beat original vintage instruments but the Motif takes some beating

Starting out, it was a slow process, you have to learn the 2 parts separately and then slowly put them together, one note at a time. Eventually, it just starts to make sense and you get faster at it. Start by playing small sections of the right hand and match up the left hand notes in the right places.

@stdavross6669 жыл бұрын
RobOnTheKeys how did you learn how to play this without the music sheets? I didnt know that was possible. Then again I dont know much about it either obviously
@shachnem9 жыл бұрын
You've got to have a good musical ear and know how to play keyboards in general. Then you can pick up a melody by ear. So capability of reading sheets is not necessarily required. However, it's very useful to know basic principles of how the music works. And of course practice, practice and practice. Eventually you will be able to pick by ear a chord, harmony e.t.c at once. But that's gonna take you couple of years of studying and practice. :D That's cool! Try that ;)
