My goodness this is gorgeous, but everything I’ve heard my entire life from this band is…reason I’m still playing them weekly 40 years after I first heard them ✨❤✨

John Farnham has a real war of his own the last several years now and I wish him recovery from cancer. LRB are one of the world's most creative bands with the original members and then some of the later work. I don't know how on earth Shorrock, Birtles, and Goble are not able to get the name back or how it was lost. I'm from New Jersey/America and I miss bands like these guys from the 70s and 80s who had meaningful songs AND had values. This is a touching song and a long time favorite although if pinned for best LRB song I'd say either "Help Is On Its Way" or "Lonesome Loser." Hard to pick and hard to believe the injustice the founder have endured.

It's always interesting to hear the different versions of this song by Farnham . I still think his live performance from the Whispering Jack concert is the best. His vocal on that one is unbelievable .

What a different career path it would have been for Farnham if the public and LRB themselves embraced him more!

Yes agreed! He has a great voice and had really good stage presence, but the public AND LRB totally disrespected Farnham. Personally I love them with both him and Glenn Shorrock although in terms of power range and abilities for the band to mature even more I give it to Farnham. The version I like best of "Face In The Crowd" is the one on No Reins. They didn't know what they had sadly.

Best version by far. Unbeatable harmonies.

Thank you so much for sharing this, great to see him singing this when he was in LRB.

Wow do I miss this band. Was blessed to see them perform the year before this concert, with Johnny on lead.

John really made this song his own over many many years with LRB and then solo- check out him singing it at the last time tour in early 2000’s

Would you please welcome John Farnham and LRB would of been a more accurate description.

what a song - for the diggers who were never the same post war

If it wasn't for LRB Farnham would've arguably faded into obscurity such is the quality of Australian radio stations. LRB were always way too good for Australian radio.

You can't be serious.

Some people might want to disagree with you. Wasn't it Glenn Wheatley who believed so deeply in John that he mortgaged his house, just about broke himself, to manage John and produce the Whispering Jack album? December 2023. UK. E❤

Who's the drummer? It ain't Pellicci that's for sure.
@kevinford18562 жыл бұрын
Drummer was the late Stephen Prestwich. He wrote the song while he was in Cold Chisel, then went on to join LRB.

This is NOT LRB.

Everybody in LRB was happy to call it LRB at the time, and it's on the SBG KZbin...so I'm pretty sure it's LRB.

It’s LRB singing a chisel cover… it’s LRB

It was on their No Reins album

At that time, Graeham Goble was the only original member in the band
