Love your analysis, but go easy on the tv commentary team ! They didn’t suddenly forget all they know, but they gotta talk live & non-stop - inevitably reach a little to keep us viewers engaged !!

I have to disagree with you on "go easy on the tv commentary team" when as you say "They didn’t suddenly forget all they know" when they fail to bring that knowledge to their commentary. The strategies unfolding in a bicycle race are harder to discern than in most other sports, so I'd appreciate the commentary team bringing on point commentary to up the knowledge of me the viewer.

Chris, did you feel more pressure as a domestique on the big mountain stages with your leader (Cadel or Lance etc) relying on you, or when you were going all out for GC yourself and all the weight was on your own shoulders?
@ChrisHornerCycling
@ChrisHornerCycling 26 күн бұрын
This is a good video topic. It would take a bit of time to explain properly in writing. The short answer is that I didn’t really feel pressure that often. I was excited all the time when the racing started, as you can tell from my videos I’m still excited about the bike racing, but not that worrying kind of pressure excited. I always seemed to be able to get the ride result that I expected out of me unless there was crash or something happened. I loved it when the team had big riders such as Contador on it so I knew exactly what to do when the racing started. I never went into a race and thought you got to win this one race. I always went into the season with the ideal that I got win something but not this one race. So I enjoyed most of the season and never felt the big pressure. I probably felt more pressure when I was at home broken/sick and trying to get back to 100% health so that I could be there for the team at the races. Once I got to the race though I knew where the fitness was and never expected to perform over that level. 👊🦋

It seems like the real difference between the time you raced, Chris, and today is the absence of order in the peloton. There is no patron or organization. Pog is as close to a patron as we have, but it’s because of his dominance not his influence.

Lidl trek was a perfection and johny milan was beast he reminded me of Marcel kittel Even though johny is much taller 1.93 for sprinter is crazy and you can't blame hime for not being aero that guy is huge.....and Bauhaus the only sprinter that delivers when it gets very chaotic it just crazy to me......and do you know what else love chaotic alpecin those guys i don't what they do but in chaos they're always there but not today trek was crazy with those crazy leadouts....they even got one spare leadout gaviria..kk i don't know what gaviria thinks but he's the dumbest sprinter i've seen on this age.....why is he the first one to start the sprint every single race....i mean you try that one tactic it didn't work why you repeat that every single race man he doesn't learn from his mistakes 😂😂....anyway ut was a good race i don't think tim merlier and ewan love this kind of chaos in my opinion....but milan was a bull with that kind of power...he never disappoint....so Chris is that mean he's the second best sprinter for now until he's head to head with philipsen?

Chris, what would cause someone like Caleb Ewan to be caught so far off position on a sprinters stage? He’s a very experienced professional, so it just seems odd that he’s been far out of contention on all the relevant stages. I can understand how someone might get caught out from time to time, like Tim Merlier today. But Caleb has been nowhere. Is it really team dynamics, or something more?
@jamespmorganjr4276
@jamespmorganjr4276 26 күн бұрын
I'm not the pro but it could be C.E may be "gun shy" since he had a few wrecks during the sprint over the past few years. I got wrecked in a group going over 29mph/46kph and it took a couple of years before feeling comfortable again going fast in a large group.

Just as you mentioned DJslaz it’s hard to be out of it so many times. Caleb says his form is good so it’s either really bad luck or somethings not right with his timing.
