As someone who’s a KOTH fan and a lifter I have to say that I actually really like the episode. The idea of the episode is not that gym bros are assholes but that Bill gets big and leaves his new friends behind and plunges whole heartedly into this new lifestyle. The scene where he’s cutting the hair and gets distracted looking at his muscles kinda shows this, there was also another moment in the show where he’s using the leg press and it’s too much weigh so he gets stuck there all weekend cuz his new gymbros won’t help him off telling him to power through the pain even though it’s crushing him. In the end the people like hank who he treated poorly throughout the episode help him. It’s more so a story about a guy who has poor self esteem using body building in a bad way to become a dick. It’s pretty telling and I think a good example to keep focus and your head clear when pursuing something like this. Apologies for this long as tirade if you or anyone even read, but keep in mind especially for edits like this, people will cherry-pick things for the sake of the edit with no context

Thank you for this. It was the push I needed after a 2 month break to get back into it. I used to beat myself up for only doing 25lb skull crushers. Now I can barely do 8 reps. I need to be patient and proud of my progress.

Bill saying, "What you are not comfortable with is hard work and pain," encapsulates why I hate everything about Planet Fitness. People who PAY THEM MONEY, get ridiculed and maybe even ejected for trying to actually work out and improve themselves. I totally think you shouldn't purposefully disturb others by causing unnecessary ruckus, but how can you not grunt if you are really doing a productive workout? If you only go through the motions and not get any burn, there was really no point in wasting your (and other people's) time at the gym.

All I’m saying is I was doing leg presses today did a 3x10 at 527 lbs and I was feeling pretty beat after that but I wanted to push myself more and went for 577, put on the song in this video, (cause I love it) and managed to get in the 10 extra reps at 577

@@Coldfront-sg3tt I’ve still noticed a difference and made improvement from doing that how I do it, I’m still relatively new to doing actual weightlifting so that may be why. I’m hoping to get to 650 soon though. Should I maybe try to do less sets more reps?

@ghhn45052 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think the most interesting thing about this and the wheelchair episode is that, with the right support group, Bill can get back in pretty good shape rather quickly, and it's implied in a lot of episodes that there's still a good bit of strength and muscle under his fat. Maybe in the reboot they can explore that a bit, I'm not sure how funny I find the idea of Bill still being a sad sack in his 50s/60s.

Bill did build an impressive amount of muscle. He could of gone in a safe deficit/maintenance territory he could of lost the excessive fat
@shitnipples9422 жыл бұрын
nah, his physique was honestly great with the fat. People underestimate how well a high body fat composition can benefit strength.
@oscardleon69762 жыл бұрын
@@shitnipples942 it really depends on Bills preference/goals. He looked great. He didn’t have to drop all the body fat but maybe a small portion down to maybe 35-30 percent. If he was going to power lift then by all means kee the body fat he’s going to need the extra calories. If he was into body building he’s going to have to drop the body fat. Like I said it’s up to Bill and what he wants
@FlashX2122 жыл бұрын
@@oscardleon6976 Id say considering Bill's age (Mid 40's), losing the body fat would be harder for him to do. Plus he and his new friends didn't seem to be interested too much in doing cardio or being in a deficit to lose body fat. It was interesting to see how big he got so fast. Possible muscle memory from when he was in better shape in his prime? (.........also gear)
@nutbuster42042 жыл бұрын
@@oscardleon6976 So to lessen your body fat you need to lower your calories then?
@oscardleon69762 жыл бұрын
@@nutbuster4204 yes, in order to lose weight you need to be in a caloric deficit. Whether that is eatting less calories or burning more calories by doing physical activities or by doing a combination of both, which i recommend. If you are looking for advice I say start by eating low calorie dense foods and eat more protein. Protein is lower calorie and more filling. For exercise go to the gym or do home workouts and go for walks 30-40 minutes with a podcast/audiobook/music. I tend to shoot for two miles. If you want info look up Greg Doucette and Obese to Beast , watch their videos and educate yourself.

Idk if people miss/gloss over the point, but one has to realise that it is selfish to believe that *you* have to be comfortable around people in order to get along in the world. The point of the gym is to step out of the comfort zone, learn something new, and better yourself in the long term.
