I always enjoyed working out alone. You get into a zone. I would push until it got easy and then increase weight. Then every few months I would change my whole routine and rotate through routines. The only thing is you need some one to spot you. I just never wanted to talk to someone when working out. I wan to focus and do my thing.

It’s crazy how as a kid they make Bill and his friends seem like the jerks. But in reality, he was the most confident and happy he’s ever been. Hank felt uncomfortable because he was using it more as a hobby than a commitment and decided to establish rules in a place that was never his to begin with.

They actively told Bill that they would help him, proceeded to make the neighborhood Gym theirs, then made Bill distance his friends and neighbors and once he needed someone to help him medically, they just left him to rot and went to play cards...inside HIS House.

For anyone who hasn't seen the full episode. Bill's body gives out when he is bench pressing weights alone and gets trapped underneath and would have died if Hank didn't show up and save him. He then gives up lifting weights because he was pushing his body too hard and almost killed himself.

It's easy for people to rewrite accurate depictions of real world situation with a KZbin video. The reality is that this episode showcased the stuff that everyone on this video wants to pretend doesn't happen regularly. I lost good friends because of steroid usage, and weight training like this. I have 2 cousins who are disabled because of these types of people trying to push there self esteem down and force them to work out so much they destroy there body. Pain does not equal gain, it equals regret.

I kinda wish they would have been more consistent with the arc of this episode. Bill getting huge and having behavioral/mood changed but not being on steroids just made the message really weird. Either they should have gone the road where he wasnt taking gear and wasnt getting the results he wanted and becoming obsessed and disordered and had THAT be why they wanted him to take it easy. Or, keep the episode the same but have it so hes taking steroids, which contextualises his mood change and unrealistic growth and makes the fact that hes hurting his health with gear be the reason they want him to stop. But doing it with pieces of both just makes it weird and confusing. Since hes just getting massive and having mood disorders for aparently no reason.

Agreed. I love king of the hill, but many of the takes are huge L's. Implying that improving one self and getting into lifting culture inherently makes one a worse person is ridiculous. I think the episode was trying to say that Bill was alienating his friends. I disagree however, when Bill wanted to take the steps to improve, Hank and the others looked down at him and were the ones who weren't supportive of him.

Do you know what's the sad part of this episode of you really think about it bill just has bad friends that don't want him to get better like yeah I get that he didn't need to go to the hospital for pushing himself a little too hard but after recovery they could have tried to convince him to get back into it and he still could have stayed in contact with his gym buddies or they could have started taking him to an actual gym but I feel like Hank and the others tried cutting bill off from those particular set of friends because they probably thought they were bad influences on him only do the fact that they didn't take him to the hospital and yeah I will admit they're not cool for not doing that for him but Bill didn't exactly you try to speak up for himself either when he should have let them know that he was in a lot of pain bill needs to find actual people that want him to be better

Comment section is lame as hell. Yes, push yourself. Yes, surround yourself with people willing to push you. But do it because you want to strengthen the bonds with the people you care about, and do it to build the confidence of others. You won't magically be a happier person by working out, you're just shutting the world out and deluding yourself into believing health and fitness is all that matters.
