A year later and I’m finding this video very helpful. Went from a flipping a few pieces of shiny card board to now spending part time job hours on research for this game. It definitely peaks my interest in a way similar to chess, it’s so complex!! For a guy already working 50 hrs a week with a family, I appreciate the knowledge dropped in this vid, def subbing!

The analysis on figuring out the attacks they could do before countering is similar to figuring out every check in chess no matter how crazy it can be because it could lead to checkmate

a tip for op using Law, you can offer a random 1k counter and still take life to stay under 7 cards in hand and not use too many counters for a 9k swing

Hey man, these videos are might useful, I will consider your services once I am up to speed with all the cards again. Played a bit for OP1+2 then took a long hiatus. Lots of new stuff to adjust to, but I've always been wondering if my countering was optimal, this video boosted my confidence in that.

katakuri is way better than yellow yamato here in asia, yamato is an all in deck that when the meta is prepared and aware of the deck it falls hard... yellow staples and black staples like sr moira on op06, rebecca, sabo blocker are better investments

On your last point, if youre playing a good player, they will never swing 5k if they dont have any other plans if you choose to block. And almost everytime its worst for you to block with your 6k blockers.. If iam at 0life, 2 blockers against enel leader and yamato, i will always counter that attack.. it can be anything from enel7 rush to the worst being amaru I even thought when i see that last slide, i was nodding in agreement, it drives me nuts when people think they get a free block, but instead they just fell into a bigger trap, then you said the exact opposite🙃
@heartpiratestcg

I was talking about in a vacuum. No other factors in mind that is the right play. But of course it changes depending on game state

I had a game against Enel once, we were both on the edge of losing every turn. They had went through 3 damn rush Enels that game and I had the situation of I had a open 6k blocker, and 1 card in hand, they swung 6k leader so I blocked with no counter in hand, I thought nah that 1 card cannot a 4th rush Enel, like who plays 4 and behold it was an I lost
@avekakristianto1314
@avekakristianto1314 Жыл бұрын
@@heartpiratestcg because you can also take it as that a blocker is a +infinite counter, why do you want to use your +infinite counter on a 5k attack, that if your objective is just to survive one last turn (opponents final turn, before your crackback).. but of course its a case by case thing.. Im just saying if your opponent do that 5k intentionally, OP is now actually a game with enough cards to take advantage of you using that blocker 'recklessly', so as a general advice i would actually just advise the opposite and just drop a 1k
@dannyroshi
@dannyroshi Жыл бұрын
Your scenario doesn’t make any sense lol. You said at 0life 2 blockers and they have leader Yamato. Why would you counter??? The blocker just saved you a card. You have to block the Yamato no matter what with 0 life. So why waste a card and block leader? Are you missing something?
@avekakristianto1314
@avekakristianto1314 Жыл бұрын
@@dannyroshiim talking about the scenario from the video.. If you block the 5k with borsa, then the enel player plays amaru, resting your rebecca, now you have to guard for 20k attack from the yamato Instead if you guard the 5k, he has to have 2 amaru in hand to rest both blocker, if he used amaru on one, you just block the yamato attack with the other one
@samuelcharles5863
@samuelcharles5863 Жыл бұрын
For the 9c kaido example why not just block with Rebecca on 5k swing as we suspect 9c Kaido coming out and borsalino can’t be k.o. And keep 1k counter in hand. Matchup dependent of course
@illeston3
@illeston3 Жыл бұрын
good players are not going to swing with leader first if theyre playing kaido, in certain situations like which he explained, its better to not give your opponent the option for the better play. Rather you take that away and KO the rebecca with kaido first, then swing with leader, and it forces them to most likely counter out the leader swing. If not and they block with borsalino, kaido is going into borsalino/10k lead just depends on whats the board state is.

Bonney is only like $20 card... Sure, the treasure cup ones are super nice and make me super jelly lol, but the tournament pack winner cards aren't much of a flex tbh, especially the Bonney one...
@heartpiratestcg
@heartpiratestcg Жыл бұрын
It was like 60 last I checked. The winner nami from set 3 is also like 45$.. If you are a collector you would want these in your collection and its more cool if you win them. Im also not flexing.. I am just saying that there is a lot of money to be made in this game if you are good
@illeston3

youre missing the point in which hes explaining that theres profit to be made. when bonney was relevant and sought after for blinging out decks it was running $60. its since dropped because it just isnt being played.

I wouldn't consider this a master class guide. This is all pretty basic knowledge. If you don't know this info by now, you just need more reps with games. I'm new to the game too and with reps I'm able to gain this info already. Just saying. I was hoping for better detail info that I might have overlooked or something interesting.

Considering the comment you posted, you have probably only started playing or you are very green in the game. As HPTCG commented, I completely and utterly disagree, topping numerous locals and winning is not just some dumb luck, I have won my 1st anniv tournament also listening to to this man and other content creators. Managing ur resources, counters, blockers takes so much knowledge that literally one wrong move can cost you the game. It is a simple game mechanic on paper but the game is so complex when it comes to actually taking the win, that I dropped other TCGs for this one.

The game itself is simple but there is a lot to be taught to both newer card game players about playing the game AND people playing the game who haven’t taken that next step yet. You can’t call the game inconsistent - a good Digimon player taught me that as I said the same thing about Vanguard, and while there is inconsistency, there’s strategy in playing around/with inconsistency and RNG.
