I had this problem just yesterday. I was around the 10 board and getting too much under and shot a mediocre game. I made a simple adjustment of changing my target to the 5 board and bowled a 264 after the adjustment. To me, it was not so much that I had to get around it more and more about me needing to get it into the dry so that it would come back to the pocket. Before the target adjustment, I was kinda riding the cliff and not getting enough friction for the ball to come back to the pocket.

I am opposite of the person that asked you the question. I have a hard time getting my hand around the ball so I tend to stay in the track or just left of it. Can I create the same reaction by moving left and just going to a Pearl ball that gives me more skid and backend reaction and just keep my hand up the back?

Yes, I can't seem to get around it. I'm a straight bowler. So my middle finger is at 6 o'clock thumb at looks like 1 o'clock and i flick my wrist. Like shooting a basketball but underhand. From pitching fast pitch softball since i was little has stuck. I can't seem to come around the ball. So i go straight down then at last second it hooks in. I just switched and bought my first fingertip ball. I bought the Zen Soul i wanted the roto magic. Yeah, strong ball that I shouldn't have bought yet. Is there a layout where i can put holes that would work to wear it does the same as coming around the ball if that makes sense. I hope this can be understood.

I have balls drilled with the pin an inch or two to the right of my bridge so if the finger holes are straight up then the the pin is set about 1:30 or 2:00. If you release the ball with your thumb pointed straight up or even rotated to 11 o'clock and and flick the fingers you will create a nice hook.

I struggle with this a lot. Lately I notice that I’ve been speed dominant and I like to always play up 10 board, but as the oil starts to break down, my ball starts to slow down too early and overhooks, but then as I move left and increase my axis rotation, that ball does not want to pick up

The track is inside 10. Your ball will burn up often especially on misses right

@@joshg218 Yes, that absolutely makes sense. Usually that’s a sign that I can no longer use second arrow and I need to switch zones. When I go to third arrow, and increase my rotation my ball skids too long. That’s my problem.

I have the same problem. For me it's a release issue. I slow down and move left, but I lose revs rate. For you it sounds like speed maybe?

2nd to 3rd arrow is a big move on house shot. Not knowing how u bowl at all, smaller moves are better and try not to change how u throw the ball until the moves are drastic and u can see the ball not turning enough. Jumping an entire zone AND changing your shot at same time sounds too confusing to me for the avg bowler. Im very up the back and dont start trying to get more rotation until im creeping towards ball return with my feet.

Great video. I finally understand the concept. I don’t know if you cover it in another video, I would love to understand ball types combined with ball shapes. There is much conflicting info out there. I understand basic shapes, continuous, angular etc, but many refer to ball as being strong or weak in combination with shapes and it confusing. Such as strong direct, strong angular or strong controlled or strong continuous….aggressive etc. I’m waiting to hear a ball be called passive aggressive. You add in core types and building an arsenal is a troubling nightmare.

I have a suggestion for those of us learning terms along with improving our bowling. When describing what a ball is doing on the lane it would be nice to see it on the side or corner so we'll have a visual.(example: over/under ball spinning)
