Doc explains when to fertilize your lawn in the spring. Our lawns slowly wake up and we can hold off on strong, slow release fertilizers for a couple of weeks. Now we should make sure we have our preemergent down, and apply a light coat of fast release fertilizer. Doc applies GreenShocker fertilizer and teaches you how to best apply for the best results.

Great video. Only thing that I think you didn't mention is the rate your applying with the spreader. If your going the full rate it's hard to not overlap too much between passes. Half rate throwing back to the middle of your tire tracks will leave less of a chance of streaking. Only problem with that is your first pass next to the border is only getting 50% of what's needed on the border of your lawn. Doing a .25% rate with a 50 percent overlap going two different directions will give you the best coverage with a fast release N.

Hi Doc, I am new to this channel. Requesting your guidance to fix my lawn with Bermuda grass. This year I had lot of dandelions/Crabgrass /Nutsedge/Broadleaf weeds and no new grass yet. I have sprayed the weed killer spray on spots all over the area but seems it would take few weeks to take effect. Please guide on what I should be doing as the next step to get it back green as yours please. Our county has a restriction of 1-2 days of watering. Thank you.

Hey Doc. My Zoysia seeding didn't take last year and weeds are surging through my pre-emergents and even some post emergents. with all that, the lawn is mostly dirt now. I have to wait until around June to try seeding again. Planning to till compost and Humichar into the soil and start over. is there anything i could be doing from now until then? Doc I put down pre emergent 0-0-7 a few weeks ago weather in the 70's then it turned cold a few days afterwards Princess77Burmuda coming out but weeds are back too .. What do u recommend I do?

Doc question, got my soil test and was high in phosphorus. I ordered 16-0-8 but noticed is does not have the micros like pgf complete. A little disappointing. Does Andersons make a 16-0-8 pgf complete with all the micros?

I got Bermuda sod put in last July and my crabgrass and poa Annua are out of control . Is there a post emergent I can use now ( I’m in east Texas ) . I know we aren’t supposed to touch our lawns most for 1st year but I have more weeds than Bermuda :(

I have cool weather lawn and early April I put down a pre emergent. Resources say I cannot put any fertilizer or seed for 4 months..I cannot make any sense of this.

Tordon is great for killing off stumps. Just a few drops and it’ll get the job done.

I got my soil test back and am showing high Phosphorus 75lbs per acre, sufficient potassium 193 lbs per acre but nothing for nitrate nitrogen ppm. Am I missing something? I used Clemson University. I recall you saying not to over analyze. If it helps ph is 7.2, calcium is 4344 lbs/acre. Thank you for your help as always. You have made me the bermuda guy to everyone I know.

Hey Doc, you may want to warn your viewers that the fertilizer prices are likely to spike this year (soon). Russia is one of the world’s largest exporters of the products used to make fertilizer. I’ve read numbers between 13-25% of the fertilizer in the world comes from Russia. There are a bunch of articles out there already talking about Russia putting the screws to the world by stopping the exports which is already causing spikes in fertilizer prices for farmers (which will lead to higher food prices). I would imagine yard fertilizer prices may rise quickly as well. I know this is a first world problem but I’m going to stock up on my whole summer supply of fertilizer now just in case.
