I am thinking about a mentorship with him as well for a while now but I get nervous like what if I hear something bad about my work because his opinion will matter to me the most. I would be crushed. 😢 I love that he is an advocate for illustrators and he knows the hardships that we go through. Thank you for sharing and I think I would go for it as well.

All of his feedback was super constructive and I never felt like it was negative/bad just more like here’s how we can make your work more interesting! And you can always let him know you are worried about negative feedback :) he is an amazing resource for sure and you can always do a single portfolio review instead of mentorship first to see if it’s a fit!

Constructive feedback even if negative is essential for a successful artist! Also, you're not a measure of your current work. An artist's skills are ever evolving and improving. Don't think, "what if I hear something bad." Think, "I hope I get feedback that will improve my work." If all you hear are compliments then you'll learn nothing. And if all someone can say is "this sucks" and can't give you anything constructive, then they're the one lacking knowledge.

I'm obsessed with that podcast and have learned so much from it. Been very curious about his mentorship program, thanks for giving us a your experience with it. Definitely think I'm going to sign up for the 3 month this summer.

Yes it’s probably my favorite “creative” podcast. I would highly recommend the mentorship, he also has a free critique group every Thursday (or maybe it’s once a month?) that I think you can access from his website. Thank you for your continued feedback on my videos 😊
