Your videos are absolutely amazing! I’m new in the industry and have a few great properties so far! Could you do a video on your equipment & preferred “brands” of mowers , blowers , trimmers etc ? Thanks man! Keep it up! I’m running a Bobcat ZT , all echo x series & a Exmark 30in X series. Thanks again.

I am too the point where I need to make this decision, I have 37 weekly retained lawns for 2024 already lined up, I was doing 15 this past year on the weekends, over a dozen individual landscape jobs scheduled for early spring, 38 single aerating/dethatching jobs scheduled, and I am getting new leads every week through marketing and referrals. Its hard for me because I am a remote data analyst with a masters degree and make about a $115k salary with benefits. But I also HATE the corporate world with a burning passion and if I stare a spreadsheets all day in my home office for another 5 years I will die inside. I love everything about landscaping, the satisfation, the freedom, the cash, even the smell of everything from exhaust from my mower, to the fresh cut grass, to working out and moving my body outside all day long. I am willing to give up my comfort in the corporate world for this lifestyle.

Sounds like the decision is already made, just need to take action. $115k salary can easily be replaced over a few years of hard work. You got this 💪🏻

Due to property size? I’d assume you have higher prices then

Heck yeah thanks buddy! I think I jumped into mine full-time a little bit too early. I want to do a lot of landscape stuff mostly. Right now I only have two mowing days. I guess one could say I only have one and a half at 14 properties. But I have the next 6 to 8 weeks booked out on landscape jobs. I've been working long nights and weekends as well. What software do you use for mowing? Or do you use a software? Do you have a bookkeeper?
@TheSamGustin2 жыл бұрын
Hey Jordan, I also went full time earlier than I likely should have. However, staying committed to building the business will pay off. Glad to hear that you have 6 - 8 weeks booked out. It almost sounds like you can raise your prices if you are getting 8 weeks booked out. We use Jobber for our software, and we use a local bookkeeper as well.

Hey guys I’m new to the industry and I’m wondering if you’re putting away any money on the side to invest in real estate? I’m in viewpoint it would be best to build a lawn care co and use that income to buy rentals/owner finance properties or in my case Mobile Homes here in Houston area to also have monthly passive income coming in. Once the passive income can cover all my expenses I can hire/teach someone to manage/run the lawn care business while I buy more properties and repeat. At the end I’d be involved in the businesses of course but no longer running any small day to day activities. Any thoughts on this? Any advice or input would be appreciated.
@TheSamGustin2 жыл бұрын
Hey Greyson, I think this truly depends where you are currently at with your lawn care company and what your goals are. It sounds like your goals are obviously to end up in real estate. If you want to invest into real estate, the most effective option would be to pursue a job that pays you a salary and dedicate a portion of that salary to a down payment utilizing an FHA loan. Taking the profits out of your lawn care company in the very beginning to pursue a different avenue would be a poor decision in my humble opinion.

Do you factor in a percentage for your "incidentals" such as equipment maintenance/repair, gas for equipment, insurance for yourself and business? If so what percentage do you use? I am a fan of your page, you seem like a really genuine and humble guy. Wishing you much success with your channel and continued growth/success with your business!
@TheSamGustin2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the kind words, Robert! Means a lot We factor those in prior to assessing our price. For example, we don't say: $45/cut + 12% to cover overhead. We simply bake those into our mowing prices. For landscaping jobs / flower bed jobs, we do bake in an eFee per line item for overhead recovery. I hope this helps!
