So how much would you exactly charge just a straight 400M2 grass job?
@samgriffin53545 жыл бұрын
I do this as a side business, but I spent two summers working for different lawn care companies. I learned a lot from them and recommend people do that if they can. A tip I'd give is stay on top of mower maintenance. If your mower is down, you're in trouble. Keeping good belts on, regular oil changes are a must

This is the only realistic videos on "know you numbers" because the new guy, has no numbers and end up being a low baller. You did a great job of pointing out the consideration of obstacles and degree of difficulty that has to be made for every job. This is what makes a good estimator in any service trade. I applaud your effort in assisting the new guy in lawn care because when the new guy wins the lawn care community wins.

If we agree to a bi-weekly cut we adjust our price accordingly. That’s extra wear and tear on equipment, blades, more fuel and it can throw the whole schedule off kilter.
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess6 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Never do a every two week cut for the same price as a weekly. I would charge at least one and a half times the weekly rate. Thanks for watching.

I had a client that wanted mowing every 2 weeks. When I told them the next year it was going to be a weekly service from now on they threw a fit and I lost them. I didn't want the job anymore because they wanted the least amount of work done for the least amount of money, they stiffed me on a lawnmowing job, and there just wasn't any profit to be had with that job.

Thinking about starting a lawn care business. I have a older Ford Truck that my father said I could use, Brand new push mower 21 inch. New Weed eater, New blower. Just nervous it will fail. I have no big mower or pull behind trailer or money for marketing. Any advice?

Hey thanks for reaching out. I have talked a lot about this in length on the currently and growing 183 episodes of my podcast. So I would say start there. Listen to the podcast. Also here on KZbin I created the playlist on my channel called how to start a lawn Care business. It is all the past videos I’ve done related to this. So watch those as well. If you are nervous and have never been in business before than I would say to start as a side business and keep a regular job until you gain enough experience and clients that your regular job is then getting in the way of your growing business. Thanks for watching.

Where about is this located? I'm in Canada in BC, I've only really been in business a few years but just fully started back up during this pandemic. I haven't had much of a formula but I find I price based on size. Some of my lawns are $80 a cut for larger ones but I have ones that only take 30 mins on a ride on then I have ones that take the same amount of time on a push that are $40 a cut. This is the side of business ive struggled with as I have a really hard work ethic but I really want to straighten my business techniques and make sure im building a profitable business and not just mowing and landscaping to scrape by and burn myself out as you know how much of a hustle this is haha

How to you adjust your pricing based on lawn complexity?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess2 жыл бұрын
The simple answer is through experience of doing enough lawns to be able to accurately know what to look for and how much time it will take and knowing your numbers. How much does it actually cost you to run your business each hour. You will underbid jobs. Everyone does. But don’t be afraid of that. Making mistakes is part of your education as an entrepreneur. Any money lost is simply the tuition for that education. Over time you learn and will be better equipped to dial in your prices. Thanks for watching.

I know u would need to see the property but can you let me know how to possibly price this job ..... I have to go out when snow is gone to look at it but I looked up the address on yardbook measurement and the property is about 3/4 acre with tons of trees I am a solo starting this spring and would like to know which would be best way to price the job for spring clean up with trimming and first cut then cut and trimme for the rest of the Sean I’m in south Ontario can you let me know best way to price I would like to make about 60-80 a hour if that sound good thks
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Take everything I said in the video into consideration including the equipment you would be using. Then try to figure out how long it would take you. Everyone is different. When I quote a lawn I’ll sometimes ask the homeowner how long it takes them to mow it because I know I can probably do it in half the time. Or I’ll ask if they had a previous lawn service before and how long it took them. Gather as much information as you can to help put your best guess together on how long it will take then just times that by the amount you want to make per hour. Don’t forget time to drive to the dump and disposal fees if that’s applicable as well. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching.

Great video, very informative, thank you? What type of insurance and how do I get one if I start a lawn business?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
You want to make sure you have a good business general liability policy. Something that protects you in case someone gets hurt or you damage other people’s property. Also it should cover your tools in case of theft. On that note look for something that offers full replacement cost. Then you should also look for a separate policy that covers you in case of injury. Thanks for watching.
@micro9635 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much? Around how much will be an initial insurance for a starting lawn mowing business?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess5 жыл бұрын
Everywhere is different. Depends on how much liability protection you want. For example a policy with $500,000 liability will be cheaper than one with $1,000,000, and that will be cheaper than one with $5,000,000. Also other aspects determine the price as well like protection for your tools. A policy that only covers a depreciated value if stolen will be cheaper than one that covers replacement cost. Also the area your from will also have a affect. If there is a lot of crime in your area the policy will be more expensive because of the higher risk of theft vs a low crime rate area. Best advice is shop around and get the most protection you can afford.

Thank you I will keep that in mind 👍👍👍

How much do you charge per every 100 sq
@tysone12544 жыл бұрын
I’m kind of in a pickle so I mow 2 lawns at the moment I charge $20 a lawn they take me an hour each now I’m no professional or anything I only mow and weed wack I don’t know if I should up my prices because people are telling me those are to low
@rodeerex44134 жыл бұрын
Tyson E I would up the price. I Personally Mow lawn sizes of about 3k and charge them $50. But remember when you up the price on those 2 Lawns, there is a high chance of them canceling their service since they wanted that low balling price to begin with. I would not change on the price on them until after you got 1 more client at the $50 range so if they do cancel on your service you don’t take a big hit.

I live in California and out here it's like 25 $ weekly cut including bushes mowing triming blowing and weed control and its really hard sometimes to up your prices especially when there's just so much competition that lowball the price some of them charge 70$ a month for their services so yeah it a struggle out wish I was mowing lawns in your area for a 30$ cut minimum none the less great advice thanks
@proffittsdroneservice15375 жыл бұрын
If you factor is costs like cell and internet services that you're likely paying anyway, I guarantee you'll overprice your work and not get the jobs. Only factor in what your mowing is actually costing you that you wouldn't incur if you weren't mowing. Extra gas, extra insurance, advertising, repair costs etc.

How do you make any profit on $30 a yard?
@LawnCareBusinessSuccess2 жыл бұрын
Depends on the size properties and route density. I have some neighbourhoods around me that the houses are built on 3000sqft properties. I call them shoe box houses. So after the house, sidewalks, garage, patio etc that space left for lawn takes literally 5 - 10 minutes to trim and mow. Do just 4 of those on the same street without moving the truck and that’s $120 per hour. Thanks for watching.

You're literally taking away the natural nutrients grass/trees depend on when you bag or remove cuttings.. But I guess that's how you then charge for fertilizer lol.. 🙄

Sorry but I’m in the Pacific North West. It’s more about the conditions here. Everyone bags here including the homeowners from Canada all the way through Washington state and Oregon and even California. It’s a west coast thing. Ever try mulching or side discharging wet grass? Makes a huge mess, but bagging leaves a clean cut despite all the rain we get. Thanks for watching.
