I feel that another factor that makes these games feel that way is the fact that they are old and nostalgic and can create some kind of fear of things being different from how we remember them, or fear of forgetting.

This is a well-edited video with a lot of informative info that helps you back up where you’re coming from. I was never really bored watching this. However, if I may offer some critiques, it feels like this type of video has been done several times before. Sure if this was your first time seeing a video like this, it does a great job, and I compliment you greatly for that. But I’ve seen so many videos covering liminal spaces found in Garry’s Mod or Mario 64, it’s a very common topic of discussion that I feel like additional videos on the subject do little to cover more ground on. That being said, I think you got a great tone and editing style that will end up getting you a lot of attention in the future! I would just recommend looking for something not a lot of people have talked about. That’s about it from me, I hope you have a nice day!

Great video on the horror subject. Personally the big take away in all these games that you have shown is the silence. No reverb/echo when walking in a big room or open area can give off a sense of unease like something is about to happen. 2:31

I have played all 3 of these games and found myself unsettled in each, and I definitely think that one of the key aspects of that is due to the feeling of being somewhere that was once populated. I find totally abandoned places creepy not because of their unsettling atmosphere, but because they evoke an emotion from me of thinking back to when these places were populated, who were they and what were the lives like for the people who once inhabited this place. I do not think that the video game itself is the reason behind this emotion, but the environments created in the video game can be.
