I too was a victim of this games difficulty. I was so used to the formula of other games treating deaths as a failure and something to avoid at all costs. But when I came back and beat Dark Souls I understood that failure was something to embrace! Learning from your mistakes can only happen if you take risks in that game. No games today embraces this idea as effectively as the Souls series. Dark Souls was a strenuous but gratifying experience that I will never forget. Dark Souls 3 is right around the corner here and I welcome it to teach me more. Praise the Sun everyone!

I feel that the only thing that keeps players like myself from understanding the gimmick difference between death in Mario and death in this game, is that you can reclaim your souls after you ‘respawn’. That function holds the thematic force that death is from being fully comprehensible to me, since you did actually die

It is unbelievable how good your content and how small your channel (still) is. Your videos are great for 54 subscribers and very thoughtfull. You really 'get into' the game and it's background. It is a great and somewhat unique aproach to video games, wich I really like. The only thing one could criticize is the at times 'choppy' cutting and the amateurish logo, but hey I'm not designing one for sure and you have under 100 subs ffs, you are not expected to have amazing production quality. Those are basically non-complaints. If there is one thing I know, then it is that your channel will explode at some point in the future, so keep going with your videos ! I will tell some of my friends about your channel for sure.

That's something amazing about interactive storytelling. Any medium can speak directly to a viewer, but none can do it as well as the interactive medium. And it's because you never even know it. If it's well done, the player is just as much a character of the game as their playable character. That's what dark souls attempts to achieve, and in a way, it worked. While ultimately dark souls 2 and 3 are better as games, they lose part of what made dark souls 1 so great, the allegory for depression, and the allegory on life. They both feel more gamey to different levels. They have their own interesting lores and stories, but none of them translate quite as well as dark souls does to real life. Though, maybe I'm missing something. I certainly hope there is an allegory to go with those games that I'm just overlooking, since that would make such great games even better.
