I've met Frank Iero from MCR three different times and I gotta say, he's one of the most hard working, humble, down to earth, and kind dudes I've ever met in my life. He makes sure every last fan gets a moment of his time. Like he really talks to every single person and gives them his undivided attention, no matter how long it takes him. Everybody gets an autograph or a picture. Also, like I said he's so humble and hard working. The second time I met him I was the first person to approach him and he was super sweet and was like hey, let me finish helping the guys load our gear up in the van and then we can chat for awhile. Then the last time I met him he was behind the merch table, selling his own merch. Both of those times were when I saw two of his side bands and after The Black Parade had come out. So he was this huge star that still loaded up his own gear and sold his own merch. He also was in the crowd watching the other bands play, supporting them because he is just as much of a fan. He's such a wonderful dude. I know they say never meet your heroes, but I'm thankful that I met one of mine. He did not disappoint at all. ❣️

I was born and raised in SoCal with the annual “Santa Ana winds”, but I lived in Vegas for 5 years (just moved back to SoCal last year) and the desert winds are no joke! When the winds in Vegas kick up, they are strong and constant with extreme gusts that kick up ridiculous amounts of sand and dirt and rocks and they make the Santa Ana’s look like a gentle breeze. I got caught in a freak wind storm that quickly became a sand storm while driving in Vegas. It tipped over the big rig in front of me and my car was so sand blasted that every window and the front & back windshields had to be replaced and they had to repaint my entire car. If one more thing had to be replaced due to wind damage, the insurance company would have considered my car a total loss.

Sucks for the smaller bands that really count on the merch money. Sure they probably got a check when they signed a contract to play the show and the venue might pay them some kinda guarantee money on top but likely will have to wait for that money from the insurance company if they even get paid the smaller bands are the ones that get screwed the most. I use to be in bands so I just feel bad for the small bands I know how hard it is to make money and how bad venues/promoters treat small bands they always have an excuse to try and not pay. I remember playing this one venue my band sold all the presale tickets plus we had people pay at the door, all my band members spent atleast 75 bucks each drinking, at-least 50 people that came to see us were there drinking for a few hours then at the end of the night the club owner tells us the other 4 bands were all under 21 and they didn’t sell many tickets so we can’t pay you guys so I said This was the 4th time we played ur venue and sold all presale tickets and didn’t get paid so we no longer will play here again he said next time you can keep all ticket money. When it came time for the album release party we set up a show at a different venue it was the best scene kinda venue in town and 2 months before the show that venue got sold so we agreed to play the venue that doesn’t like to pay us because they were really trying to get us to do the show there anyway they promised to give us all ticket money, give us a really good day where there are other things going on in the area so foot traffic would be great. I didn’t want to do it but the band members talked me into it. So we got all the bands set up had artwork and flyers made up, went on the radio to promote the show then 2-3 weeks before the show the venue canceled our show because a big band I think 5 finger death punch needed a venue because they were booked at the same venue we were previously and they didn’t find out it was sold till then and so they gave that night to them. I talked to the band told them what was going on and they agreed to take Friday night so we could still do Saturday but the venue wouldn’t do it because there was a festival on Saturday and they wanted the bigger band to benifit from the other festival. I told the venue that nobody is coming to see 5fdp because those fans will be at the festival up the street but people that like our music will not be there because they are 2 different fan groups but they wouldn’t do it they completely screwed us again. I heard from the sound guy that only 20 people came to that show so the club lost a ton of money because the band wouldn’t unload their gear until they were paid in full for the show so the venue lost thousands of dollars. The sound guy also said that there was a big line at the door but they all left when they found out we weren’t playing. It was a small venue only holds about 250 people but we had it sold out so a good 5,000 bucks in ticket money, the other 4 bands were all over 21 so everyone would have been drinking so they would have made a good 10,000 profit after everyone was paid but they lost a good 10,000 bucks paying that band to play for 20 people.

I'm kinda here for the emo nostalgia thing. It's cool that something like this exists, to celebrate a genre that was so maligned by all the big publications and all the gatekeeping music snobs. My only issue is the use of the term "elder emo." I mean, the "scenior citizen" pun is right there!

The term emo was basically invented by music journos to begin with. I just always celebrated music and bands specifically more than the particular scene, we gotta be able to poke fun at ourselves too though. I mean I guess I saw some guitar one blowhards or something like that crap talk emo, but there was a lot worth making fun of lol- and it was usually the people most concerned with labeling themselves. Also like, emo was super fuckin profitable so, I don't know about the gatekeeping thing. There's way less money in any version of rock music today really, at least when it comes to new bands.

Hello other fellow Arizonian! I’m gonna compare apples and oranges here for a bit, but it’s related. I wanted to go to FestivAlt AZ originally set for September 30th, because of Waterparks, one of my favorite bands in the whole world, performing in my state in 2022. But when I first got news, I saw so many people be weary because of All Time Low performing alongside due to many allegations stemming from Twitter and TikTok that definitely left a sour taste in people’s mouths. I said I would 100% sure go to FestivAlt AZ only if there’s a Meet & Greet for Waterparks (it was common for them to do that and Q&A while on tour if you have VIP). But when I heard that FestivAlt AZ was actually cancelled, I was a little bummed (still am). But before that, I was starting to get worried from Waterparks not saying anything about FestivAlt AZ. Oh well, it’s probably for the best, because of a well liked band playing alongside a controversial one. Sorry for the ramble. I might as well say something about that lol

I was meant to go to the show on Saturday and whilst I respect the precautions taken due to the wind I would like to add this: the heavy winds went on for roughly an hour and then blustered throughout the day; Sunday’s winds were actually more consistent. I was at the front of the line (probably 10th or so) - we were not informed that the festival cancelled until roughly 20-30 mins before gates were meant to open. I had a very small medical emergency (broke my finger) and was taken by a medic to the other side of the festival grounds to have them strapped up; I was then allowed to walk freely through the grounds to the front entrance. The festival was not ready, the vendors were not ready, the bar, the merch stand, even the stages were still being set up. I took a quick clip on my phone to show friends. Even if the winds had not prevented the show from going ahead I am sceptical that it would have anyway. I was one of the very lucky few that managed to secure tickets for Sunday and not pay insane prices (I travelled internationally so was hell bent on not missing it); my review of Sunday is this: if it had not been for the nostalgia it would have been the biggest waste of time and money. The sound was terrible, the layout of the festival was amateur at best and the way in which the barriers forced people to bottle neck was dangerous. For a Livenation event I expected so much more. I have even to festivals all over the world and I stand by stating that this was the worst. I am also unsure as to how the 85,000 capacity has been calculated as 85,000 people in the festival ground space is simply too many. I am sure you have all heard about the queues for merch, bar, food, toilets etc… in what world did Livenation think that 2 merch stands would be adequate?! Going forward I really recommend Livenation take a look at Reading/Leeds, Download, Tomorrowland, even Shambala as to how festivals should be run as it is clear they have completely lost all capability in running large scale events. If you would like any footage let me know.

It’s really not hard to understand at all. There was a confluence of things that gave off the vibe that this thing would be a shit show. First, when it was announced a lot of bands didn’t even know their management or whoever had agreed for them to play it. Second the lineup seemed to good to be true, and the logistics of them all playing at a one day fest didn’t make sense to a lot of people. Third stuff like Firefest and Astroworld were/are very much on peoples minds thanks to the documentary’s and the tragedy being very fresh respectively. I’m happy for everyone involved that it (mostly) worked out great. But to act like people didn’t have reasons to be skeptical is disingenuous at best.

I went. Festival was packed and chaotic but it worked. Overall worth the trip. My criticisms/critiques: 1. Stages weren't designed for even light winds. Speakers were rocking and it's obvious why they wouldn't stand on Saturday. 2. Merch needed electronic options. You shouldn't spend 3 hours in a merch line for a 1 day ticket. 3. Queueing system to get in was wildly disorganized. Some people waited 2 hours in line others flooded the gates ignoring the line. 4. 2 of our 7 group tickets for the wrong day. We had to buy new ones for the correct day and sell the old ones. Fortunately for us we actually made a few $. Other than that it felt good. Funny story about meeting someone international who got hosed. I caught an uber with some Canadians from my hotel and they were able to snag some $400 Sunday tickets when there's were cancelled. They were in $3700 cad for 2 Canadians and lucked the hell out. We were extremely fortunate to be able to buy our 2 extra Sunday tickets for $140 each before they shot up to 500+

I was there this last weekend; the wind was THAT bad. I wound up selling my Sunday ticket while I was there to someone who was gonna go Saturday. Really shitty situation: but all things considered it did feel like WWWY was trying their best. Tons of pop up shows started getting announced, even shows that weren’t WWWY related but they still shared them around so all the kids who came Saturday didn’t feel like it was a total waste.

I also live in Las Vegas and when the wind picks up here it can be pretty destructive. I have literally seen it rip trees right of the ground and pick up large gazebos and crush them like coke cans. That was definitely the right call. I did want to go to the festival. I logged in to purchase GA tickets when they went on sale but the website would only let me pick the exceedingly expensive VIP packages when it seemed unlikely that regular tickets would be sold out so quickly. I did get a scammy vibe from the site itself so I just didn’t bother too much.

Knocked Loose, Four Year Strong, BMTH, Pierce the Veil, and ADTR were incredible. Blew my mind. Meet me @ the Altar also did a mash up that included a Limp Bizkit cover which was awesome. I went to WWWY Day 1 and I'll tell you from my personal experience, it was crushing. I completely understand why things were cancelled, but it's the way that it was handled that was the worst part. Leading up to the show, we knew there would be bad wind and people messaged the WWWY social accounts and we're ASSURED that everything would be fine. They cancelled the event less than an hour before gates opened. Then there was radio silence from the bands (not that they were responsible) for a few hours as they tried to scramble and put on last minute pop up shows, ON A SATURDAY IN VEGAS. A few managed to get some booked, but these shows were at 200-500 cap venues at best. AAR played a BBQ restaurant, Silverstein played a hotel that the cops got called to because too many people showed up. BMTH and KL booked a show at a casino theater that people lined up to for hours and were told they would get in. Casino staff brought them to a different room saying they were assured entry, and then when tickets went on sale, they sold out in less than 2 minutes, and everyone in the room was told "Oh yeah, we moved you here because you were blocking the casino floor." I managed to enjoy my time in Vegas, but it was bogged down by the defeat of the event and everything surrounding it. ESPECIALLY as day 2 went off with no issue and would never have been a thing if it wasn't for people like me buying tickets to the first day that never happened. Sorry for the rant, love your content.

People comparing it to Fyre are just drama queens spouting overreactions. Fyre was on an island, barely any food, people trashing tents just for fun, and lots of stolen luggage - all because of a plan to grift. This was cancelled just before the show but people still were in Vegas. They had their luggage, they had their hotels, and they had access to thousands of restaurants - all without other tourists going feral. Yeah, it sucks that it was cancelled but that happens at festivals. They should ask Cheap Trick about the time high winds caused their festival stage to collapse and nearly killed people. Stopping the show saved people.

As someone who was supposed to go on Saturday (but managed to change to Sunday), it was justifiable to cancel Saturday. BUT I don’t think it was gone about in the best way. They easily could have put out a warning on Friday - our weather forecasting is pretty advanced. They obviously were trying to save face and were hoping it would turn around (and didn’t want to take the tourism away from Vegas). Again, it was the right safety call to make, but I don’t think they did it with the attendees in mind. They canceled it and didn’t give warning earlier because they didn’t want to get sued, not for the attendees.

I'm from Alaska, and lemme tell ya: 40 mph gusts are just a MILD DAY for us, especially in the winter. That being said, I no longer live in AK, but when I did, I traveled from AK for concerts in the Lower 48. But I always realized that there was always a chance there could be a show cancelation. Fortunately for me, it never happened, but I always kept that in the back of my mind. To not do so would be naive. Speaking of AK, I remember in 2014 partying with Tyson and Co. at the bar I was doing karaoke at. They were playing the state fair, and came down to the lounge. So, I can say I've sang in front of All American Rejects. Also, pro tip when traveling out of state or country for a concert: whenever possible, always try and go to an indoors show. There's a lot more controllable variables with them.

I was at the festival on Sunday and genuinely had the greatest time of my life. Dont get me wrong, it was by no means entirely perfect. I went and thought it was amazing for its first year as a festival! Saturday was extremally windy and even the casinos were warning guests to stay inside... My only issue was the merch lines were a mess and I personally believe that more people were let in than capacity cause the front ticket system was wonky. All they did was scan a barcode from a picture on your phone, what if someone sent that to 50 people? You did not have to scan out if you left, you only received a re-entry wristband so they couldn't track who was leaving and re entering so anyone could've came in with the barcode. BUT all the bands stayed perfectly to there time slots and the lines for beer/food/bathrooms were all reasonable. Overall it was a blast and I would gladly go again.

I was one of the unfortunate Saturday ticket holders who got cancelled. I held it together pretty well and rationally, but there were a lot of people who didn't. In its own ironic way, 75,000 emos wandering around Las Vegas being sad and depressed because they didn't get to see their favorite bands is the epitome of what emo is all about. In all seriousness though, it sucked hard to hear the news, but I understand the reasoning. If you want a firsthand take from my experience, please read on. So from the very beginning when they announced this my red alarms were going off, but not because I thought it was a scam. I've been to enough festivals to look at that lineup and say, "There's no way in hell this is a one-day concert. Not with this stacked of a lineup. Even smaller festivals are two or three days." I thought they'd wait a few days then announce another day, but of course they didn't. Ticket sale day comes, wait in the queue with credit card in hand for hours at my computer ready to go, and the queue crashes due to demand and pretty much all the tickets get bought off to scalper sites in a hot minute. Reluctantly bought two Saturday tickets from SeatGeek for around $950. Ok cool, whatever, got my tickets. There was a small clause on SeatGeek though that did raise concern and that was the tickets were non-refundable. I took a chance on it anyways with the fest being 10 months out. But Ticketmaster and LiveNation, in all their greediness, came out 24 hours later and announced the Sunday show "due to high demand". I knew it, and I was livid. They hyped up demand for the first day, made me spend twice the original ticket price off a scalper site, then dropped another show. On top of that (and this is the real reason I'm still livid) is they KNEW! They knew it was going to be a two-day fest from the very beginning. If they had been honest from the beginning and said "this is going to be two days" and gave us three options; a Saturday ticket, a Sunday ticket, and a two-day pass, I would have gladly gotten the two-day pass. All the extra money would have been forgiven if they had done this from the start and it would have made a lot of people less sad/ mad. So I save up some vacation money the next ten months, and the weekend comes. Fly out of Austin to Las Vegas and meet up with my old college roommate who I haven't seen in three years. We stayed at the Circus Circus, which isn't the worst place in Vegas, but it's far from the best. Probably hasn't been renovated since the 90's. No microwave or mini fridge or anything you find in a modern hotel, but its decent enough for a weekend. Spent Friday doing the tourist thing on the Strip, gambled, did some sports betting, got accosted by flapper girls wanting $80 for a picture, saw some homeless crackheads, etc. Got a little shitty that night, wake up with a small hangover Saturday, go pound some breakfast real quick and some Tylenol and get in the zone. The real reason I picked the Circus Circus to stay in wasn't necessarily because it was cheaper, but because it was 300 yards away from the fairgrounds. We ended up walking over at around 9:30ish and the line was already ridiculously long. So we found our spot, go hyped, made some friends, and waited for the gates to open. Right around 10:30, everyone started looking down at their phones and talking. Some dude announced they cancelled the show and to check Twitter. We checked our phones and sure enough, there was the official announcement, but we didn't move. As stubborn as we were, we stayed in the line waiting for someone from the festival to make the call personally. About five minutes later a guy drove up on a golf cart and made the announcement. We were floored. Some people protested, but nothing violent. They probably just didn't know how to deal with it. So with some reluctance me and my roommate wandered around the block in a state of pure dejectedness and numbness, trying to process it. I'd never seen so many people who looked like their dog just got run over. Some took it better in stride than others. Girls were literally in tears. One dude broke out a bluetooth speaker and started playing music. Some people went acapella and just started singing. Eventually we sulked back to our room, changed out of our emo regalia, and tried salvage the weekend. We kept tabs on social media for pop up shows, but they were impossible to get to. Once one was announced it filled up too fast. You literally had to be in the right place at the right time for a popup. We ended up living vicariously through social media for the Sunday show. My roommate had to fly out Sunday anyways so even if we did score scalped Sunday tickets he wouldn't have been able to go. I didn't want to go without him, so I spent Sunday doing the tourist thing again. It felt like being grounded and having to watch all your friends have fun outside without you. From what I could tell, those that went to Sunday had the time of their lives. There were a few hickups with the fest, mostly concerning lines and getting in. Apparently people stood 2 hours in a fake line to get in? I don't know how that works. Merch lines were long and merch was sold out fast. But all in all, everyone seemed to have a wonderful time, except for the unfortunate Saturday souls.
@vaxis21132 жыл бұрын
Mech line was a disaster and so was the food line. Other than that everything was great. The festival was easy to navigate and was able to see everyone I wanted to see. Saturday actually ended up being fun because all the pop up shows made it seem like an Emo scavenger hunt.

Yeah with everything that went down with Astroworld plus all the press Woodstock 99 has gotten recently, they can't afford to make any mistakes regarding safety. And it's probably for the better, going to outdoor shows in bad weather sucks anyway
