3.23 is scheduled for release in Q2. By CIG standards, this usually means the end of that quarter, but of course it is more of a guideline than a hard and fast rule. This means that theoretically, they could release 3.23 as late as June. However, barring any serious issues with 3.23. I highly doubt it could be that long, but anything is possible. More realistically, it will be around right before Invictus with open PTU builds being a week or two prior. When do you think CIG will open 3.23 to further PTU builds? This week? A few more weeks? Do keep in mind that 3.23 is/was scheduled for April. Usually, a patch is scheduled for the end of the quarter it is put in, but 3.23 is the exception. So, i expect somewhere in early May.

3.18 wasn't CIG's fault, it was amazon's database software that couldn't handle the load of players slamming the servers with back and front end service requests.. Amazon oversold their software's abilities. Thankfully CIG was allowed to re-write it to meet the demands of the game and for the upcoming server mesh. Like everything in Star Citizen, there's no 3rd party software that can handle it which means CIG has has to develop every aspect of it. Thankfully they learned the lesson of 3.18 and went to a new wave system for testing it. In 3.18 PTU millions downloaded it and played it for a day and never came back. Costing CIG huge sums in money for bandwidth and not getting the data they needed to adequately test 3.18. Now they open it up to the actual people who will test it first. Then when its more stable they test the loads of single use players.

@@cajjono2848 typically the end of may yes, but I think people underestimate how much of a tech hurdle the new hangars are for the PU. Every IAE and ILW there is a large patch to get the new features and ships in due to the event having a firm window. Things that don't make it are postponed until the .X patch. We are already past the first week of april and 3.23 is still with evocati. Which means there are still 4+ weeks of waves AND a live implementation with bug fixes. 5-6 weeks. Which puts us right on the cusp of the end of May.

It ought not to go to wave 1 any time soon as it’s still in a pretty bad state is my assessment. The new UI needs a lot of work and is very buggy, which is making extensive testing difficult. Meanwhile they’ve added all the big content creators into Evocati so they’ll be pumping out content updates for everybody else, but this shouldn’t be rushed and it would make sense to have a stable build like a 3.22.2 for Fleet Week than rush such a big patch out imo.

I would be super pleased if CIG opened the patch up to Wave 1 this week, but kept it in PTU until early May. They need to additional server load from more players to keep testing the limits of the stability.

Tbh, the fact that freight elevators still aren't even remotely functional in the ePTU builds doesn't instill me with any sense of confidence that they'll actually be functional in 3.23. I'm hoping the elevators will be in 3.23, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they pushed it back to 3.23.x The amount of stuff they've been promising for 3.23 is mind boggling and is bordering on over-promising imo. As for the Hull C missions, I couldn't care less about those until they fix the myriad of docking issues, and the hugely inefficient cargo loading and unloading system for it.

If it doesn't have Persistent Hangars then i doubt most will care, not that it doesn't have worthy content because of course it does. For me though, i'll bother to play once Hangars are in, UI/Map is stable and usable and the retaliator is functioning to an acceptable level and modules aren't janked, i know some of what i mentioned is already on the ptu and working Ok'ish. Of course with the additional devs moving over from sq42, things are moving at a rapid rate in so many respects. Good times, i can wait for 3.23

thats a good point about the auto reloads, that should be an option to toggle. also, i have some gripes of my own. spilled some liquids on my old keyboard, and i could not Rebind my keys to keys that worked so, i bought a ship months ago, and i still havent really played the game, because i couldnt get through the tutorial without a working F1 key and with no key rebind function, i was stuck in the room where you spawn because of that. new keyboard now but, should also be able to customize key bindings

I am in Evo, and I can tell you there is no reason to collect information on any of these things. In the last week the ammo capacity of ballistics has changed twice. Its very apparent they are still working on the system.

I'm all for allowing the player to choose auto or manual reload but 99.99% of all FPS games ever made are auto reload. It sounds like the issue isn't the auto reload as much as not being able to interrupt the reload action.

Nah, Battlebit doesn't have it, Countstrike doesn't have it, neither does Ground Branch, ArmA, Ready or Not, Battlefield 2049, Helldivers 2 etc. The only ones that come to mind that has auto-reload are Siege and Modern Warfare, both of which are more competitive and fast paced than what SC is going for. I'm all for reload cancelling, but in a game with high TTK, I much prefer being able to simply draw my sidearm to potentially finish off my target or use it to cover myself as I get to cover.

Does the new Gladius sound for boost/retro thrusters have a fully articulated bass do you think? I.e. do you think you could get a sense of the whole effect if you played it exclusively in frequencies below 80Hz, for example? Because so far the bass was just so weak in SC, excluding quantum jumping...

CIG tends to be shy with bass and sub-bass due to how much headroom it eats up so they only save them take make some explosions beefy for the most part. The new Gladius sounds are a lot more low-mid and mid-focused, but it has a nice balanced bass to go with it, especially the retros when boosting as they tickle the ears if you got nice big headphone drivers to push all that air :)

@@Spelljammer1Simple, answer. Different design approaches for audio. Elite's approach is more centered around the cockpit experience. And as such the mix reflected that. SC's mix was kind of all over the place patch over patch, this is due to it being in constant flux from active dev. But ultimately, CIG prioritized maximum dynamic range over everything else. With SQ42 nearing completion and new features being ported over, expect the mix to be a lot more finalized as the audio team nail down how they want to experience to be closer to release and their attention is no longer being split between two projects.

And I called this back when everyone else was acting like we already had 3.23 with everything they showed us at CitCon.
