Won't be happening with this version of AI (machine learning). AIs do everything via statistical inference, which is only a part of how human cognition works. It's actually the less powerful and intelligent form of human cognition. "AI" is incapable of reasoning through first principles, if it does not have a massive data set it can regurgitate it will come up with laughably wrong answers (which it does even with the massive data set). No amount of incremental progress can change the fundamental fact that in many respects, a human child is far more intelligent than the most sophisticated "AI" in the world. Now, I'm not precluding the possibility that with completely different algorithms, AIs could think in more human-like ways. But as it stands, I put zero stock into the argument "well it's only a matter of time."

I would say that AI is much different than other tech innovations of the past. She mentioned Adobe for instance as an advancement in Graphic design. Anyone can learn that tool. However, Adobe is not performing that task on its own. It requires human input. With AI, it will be able to directly use tools like Adobe thereby making you unnecessary. Imagine the future where the doctor and nurse are robots. They can diagnose your illness and perform treatment. What need is there for a human doctor? Or once Level 5 autonomous driving becomes a reality. Drivers of Taxi, Uber, Train, Truck, Bus, Airplane are no longer necessary. Entire industries will no longer need human workers. It's already happening in manufacturing with robots doing most of the welding for instance. If I was a young Project Manager I would be really concerned. That job can so easily be taken over by AI. Even high tech work will be taken over by AI. Imagine a computer network that repairs itself. One that can detect intrusion and in real time patch the vulnerability within seconds. Scary to think about. Maybe the Luddites will rebel and destroy AI before it takes over the world.

Not everything is about masking models hair from the backgrounds... Humans create and have ideas. AI does not. AI is a world where everything in the end will look the same.
@SmartphoneGenius7 ай бұрын
@@KokayMate Let me ask you, how many humans have ideas? Is everyone Michelangelo? No most people on the planet are built to put hammer to nail. With little to no creative ability. And the vast majority of what humans create is mimicry. Look at car designs for instance. Not much variation from model to model and brand to brand. Same with music and most other things that humans create or build.
@KoDeMondo7 ай бұрын
Not every industry! she has give a very good Example on the last part of the video when she mentioned the example of structural analysis of skyscraper that didn't work due to liability issues
@SmartphoneGenius7 ай бұрын
@@KokayMate You're overestimating humans. Do you think the average person is more like Michelangelo or Homer Simpson? What % of the pop is creative? Most of humanity is built for putting hammer to nail not creating. So maybe a handful of humans have a job in the creative field. What about the other 99%? The vast majority of jobs require zero creativity. A project manager, a doctor, a farmer, a factory worker, statistician, mail/package delivery, an IT worker... none of those are creative jobs. They can easily be replaced by AI. And creativity is actually quite formulaic. Fiction for instance can be summed up by a protagonist who has to overcome something. There are actual books written by AI already and it'll only get better. Music is also formulaic. It's just tempo, pitch/frequency, rhythm, repetition, etc. Can be manipulated easily by AI.

Sorry, but IBM hasn't been a leader in anything since the 80's. Except platform locking and extorting its accounting customers for as much money as possible~ Watson was no more developed than every other programmer tinkering with AI code in the late 90's and early 2000's. Keep in mind no one has eliminated AI hallucinations then or now. Don't bet the farm on it. A cool tool but not reliable, which has been its problem since the 50's.

Oh boy, millenials and younger generations are either going to have a great future ahead of us or post apocalyptic concerning AI. I'm leaning towards post apocalyptic.... AI will view us as we view gnats flying in our face or view us as a puppy. It just depends on how well those data scientists train AI.
@hoastbeef12027 ай бұрын
Never. The people working on AI seem to think that with enough intelligence fed to the AI, it will eventually gain consciousness. But it can be argued that it's consciousness that creates intelligence. When you are born, you already have consciousness. From there, how "intelligent" you become later in life depends on environmental (and genetic) factors. It's not when you are born, you don't have consciousness, and hope that if you get taught enough information you then become conscious later in life.
