For better future stop working in IT industry , whole life will spend in learning. This is worst industry where recession is back every 4-5 years. And recession is always trigger by investors , bring back artificially with economical numbers 😅 and government have no control. Freshers have to stop considering IT industries for long run otherwise at age 40 you will be helpless when you have family , medical bills and kids. In IT every day fear of job loss and no sustainability , every 6 months you have to begging for hike and justify in appraisal. And also regional politics in IT offices, as experience grow job opportunities is less in IT. These are dirty fact about IT industry 😊

I always wonder why local municipal governments never have layoffs. Have you ever walked into city hall? So many people are just sitting around, or they're clocked in but not even present. Sometimes I've gone in to pay a bill and see everyone socializing. They see me and scamper back to their computers and sit there quietly until I leave, of course. My point is, if municipalities embrace AI, it seems like well over 50% of the tasks could be performed by robotic software. Finance departments seem most vunerable because the staff doesn't really do anything and the spending reports and procurement procedures are always the same year after year.

What you said is absolutely correct, sir. But I have one doubt: AI is occupying everywhere and everyone is losing their jobs. Take this example: UPS laid off 12,000 employees and replaced their work with AI. Let's assume, if these 12,000 people learn AI tools very well, like professionals, will these companies be ready to hire them again in their organization? I don't have proper knowledge to say this, but this is what may happen in the future. Even if we learn top-end AI skills, in the future, artificial intelligence will always be one step ahead of us. We won't be there to see upcoming new innovations in this world, but the concept of Terminator and Robo movies will become true: machines will rule the world, humans, Tata, bye-bye.

Governments, public and everyone should encourage and welcome such an AI productivity driven layoffs that will tremendously increase the entrepreneurs, business profit. However it should be geared toward bringing all round benefit for all people in society or the humanity. The Government should see that A substantial portion of this profit should be reserved by taxing or whatever means, for building a Universal Basic Income fund in preparation to Guaranty Basic Income or UBI for all people, to alleviate them from the economic problems arising from the layoffs or joblessness for the masses who have been liberated them from the drudgery of their exploitative labour and living freely in the Zero Work Society.

Good analysis but you mixed up multiple things. AI is taking up jobs for sure. But companies are still betting very selectively on AI. Like all talk about Gen AI only which is not even 10% of it. Further, yes AI tools can help productivity. The main reason is business is going down. Recession in UK, Japan is telling the same. Interest rate going down will not fix it. Delay is damaging. Recession fever started gripping which is limiting US investments. Tech is future investments.

It can't come up with solutions, let alone look for problems to solve. ChatGPT came out in Nov 2022, how many businesses big and small actually use it and how does it contribute to their revenues? There have been "development will be obsolete" calls since around a decade now. Just like how crypto was supposed to eliminate the banks 😂

I'm working with Generative AI for last 1 year, and working heavily with Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG). Both new developments and increasing size of Foundation models, and improvement in their integration into business processes, is making me worried. While Layoffs may decrease in some areas, the number might continue to take place in large organizations in targetted areas one by one, depending upon AI success.

@@prasannakarthik7721 I don't have a direct answer to your question, that if GPT-5 will achieve AGI or not. But if you take a look at current LLM/VLM/MLLM models, it's clearly evident that increasing the compute and number of parameters can significantly improve the accuracy. And I don't think we need AGI to augment the workers. We're nearing the capabilities to augment the work to certain level, which means while it not able to entirely replace human at something, it can significantly reduce the team sizes. However, I'm always skeptical about the economics of new age AI. My 2 cents are : 1. Higher costs might impact the adoption of massive-scale models. 2. I'm pessimistic about the models with large context window, ie Gemini 1.5 3. Resource efficient RAG/intelligent agents/multi-agent sysmtems built over present day LLMs or multi-LLMs might outperform the massive LLMs. 4. AI community will continue to improve the mathematics to shrink the LLM model size

I work as a RPA Developer involving tools like UiPath, MS Power Automate, Automation Anywhere. I see those tools are integrating OpenAI/Gemini where you can use the prompts inside the tools by connecting with an API. But I've also seen tools like Genta Automation and MultiOn developed for AI Automation where you can automate with less effort. MultiOn for example uses just text/speech to automate daily tasks whereas Genta Automation builds the entire workflow for automating complex tasks through just word prompts. The AI Tools are still in beta stage but I see huge potential soon.

Companies were "forced" to keep unnecessary IT workers for the last few years in fear of laying them off would cause their stock prices to plumment. Currently, if you are a Tech Company and say you are fully invested in AI, your stock price soars. Do the math. If your are a Tech Company you broadcast that you have implemented AI (win) and you can then have a legitimate excuse for laying off all of those unneeded IT workers that you were holding onto to keep your stock price high (win). I doubt if any of these Tech Companies are doing much with AI yet, but it doesn't matter, they have a vested interest in saying they do.

LIC has has been midlessly buying stake in them which is being unloaded by Foreign investors ie to save the stock prices as they are index heavy weights and to strong arm the management....many top IT executive have left IT companies likely because of gov pressure to not cut employess and opposit pressure from investors to cut costs as margins remain effected... the elephant in the room is 60% of our IT industry serivces BFSI sector in US and EU..where the banks are in horrible shape with huge unrealised losses from soveign bonds and unaccounted losses due to drop in comercial RE prices. These losses will likely lead to consolidation in many US regional banks and insurence comanies which is bread and butter of our IT companies....a bank closing down means entire IT / backoffice wiped off... not to metion AI code generation is driving masssive productivity gains in less experienced employess ie (3-5 year exp group ) making many high paid older employess ( 38-45 age group) redundant...
