Last episode was Pedro’s shining moment, this episode was Bella’s. Both are so deserving of all the praise and recognition, they deserve all the awards for their performances. Those two just keep playing with our emotions every week🥲

Pedro's short screen time allows him to show how he can convey emotions just by being on a mattress and shedding one tear as Joel thinks Ellie listened to him and leaves him dying alone to go back to Jackson

This entire episode occurred in the game as a DLC, which is downloadable content. It's separate from the main game, and doesn't have to actually be played at all. Which is wild to know that some people who have played the game have never experienced this beautiful moment. I'm SO glad they placed it chronologically in the show. The main difference is that in the DLC, you go back and forth between past Ellie in a mall with Riley, and present Ellie in a mall with Joel, trying to find supplies to save his life.

Oh, I might have to look into that, I don't recall much of Ellie's in game back story

In the game it was a DLC and this whole storyline was so tragic and they portrayed it perfectly in the show only one thing is changed that there was a huge hoard of zombies chasing in the game and in the show only one infected appeared I remember dying soo much in the game lmaooo Also liked that they showed us why Riley joined firefly in the game it was a plot hole

Watching Ellie go from anger and frustration when she realises she's been bitten to fear and heartbreak when she realises Riley was too then watching her grief manifest in anger while Riley's is simply quiet acceptance was too excellent. Storm and Bella did wonderfully and had great chemistry

To answer your question, yes this episode is focused entirely on the DLC for the first game. Ellie often alludes to events that took place prior to meeting Joel, which leaves a lot of unanswered questions about her backstory while playing through TLOU1. The DLC was released after the full game's release.

2:13 they’re not wrong it is a friendship. And by the end it could’ve blossomed into something more, if only they didn’t go to the mall. 😢

This flashback is indeed in the game although it was put into it later after it was released as downloadable content. We play as Ellie while she is remembering this when helping Joel like she is in the show. It too was called Left behind. The sad fact is that the same people who played the game and praised her for being a great character in the game, also turned on her once it was revealed that she had an attraction to a woman. This is the only flashback that I can recall that was actually a part of the game.
@Ladyknightthebrave Жыл бұрын
A lot of this episode is from the Left behind DLC. But some of it is also from a companion comic that was released after the first game by Faith Erin Hicks. Also they added/altered a couple bits.

This part of the story wasn't directly in the first game but was released a few months later, on valentine's day, as a dlc (downloadable content) to give some backstory to Ellie and Riley. In the DLC we switch between present day Ellie trying to find medical supplies for an injured Joel to flashbacks of her and Riley and their adventure in the mall. It was a pretty big deal back then for a very popular main character in a game to be revealed as part of the lgbt community. Unfortunately a lot of gamer bros got their panties in a twist about it and turned on her.
@stevechevy3382 Жыл бұрын
Nice reaction. I tend to think that when they do these flashbacks. That it's character development. And since it's the past somebody is going to die. And that happened and this seems to be the first time Ellie got infected. Which means we could also get another flash back of when she doesn't die from it. Clearly that will be heart wrenching when she realizes they won't be going on together. Some characters are just there for pain. Let's you know what drives the character. Which shows why she tries so hard at the end to save him.

this entire episode is not in the game itself, but in a separate, smaller spinoff dlc called "left behind", the same as the title of the episode. it came out between the first and second game and this episode, quite a bit more than the others, is very similar to the game.

The flashback was in the game but instead of it being one long sequence like in the show. I was more of a back and forth between present and the past in the game.

Whenever they show joel laying on the mattress and in pain/looking at ellie with tears, my heart flutters. Literally. Idk if its bc he’s so attractive when he needs rescuing 😆, or if its a touching moment. I think it’s the former.

If I could give you one bit of advice for someone who hasn't played the games. Never speak of part 2 of this game or what you may have heard or tweet you saw etc. Bc all you'll get is a ton of comments on it and very much risk some fool saying something they shouldn't. even if its the slightest plot detail. The littlest things said, can sometimes actually be big things. So in the end its probably best not to even mention anything part 2, even if its a theory you have for later on.
