This is why you need a lot of stallions in that country, protection from all the predators. An old timer once said that when we had lots of wild horses there were lots of deer, when the wolves came the deer ran to the horses for safety.

It is so sad and sickening that those that are supposed to watch over the land, will take out the horses...especially stallions. I've hear it said that it is for their own good. They say such ridiculous stupid reasons, none of which is true. They have no idea what horses do. They are the care keepers of the land. Yes, some get killed or die in the wild, but that's the wild. And they left wild. Not in a corral ready to be shipped overseas. It's just not right. Im in the States, here we have the BLM. They give every reason and excuse of why the should take them. People got mad so now they put these collars on the mares. They could get caught.... I wish at times that I didn't love animals so much. But, I do know I love these folks that watch out for them, even though I don't know them. I have a lot of respect for them.

Crazy to think that interactions like this betwen feral horses and wolves are one of the closest things we have to looking straight at Pleistocene North America. At one point in earth's history this scene would've played out between Dire wolves (Aenocyon Dirus) and Western Horses (Equus Occidentalis).

I imagine that would be challenging technically. It was mentioned in another video that there are 25k-30k video clips to review after the 70 trail camera cards are collected, then multiply that by how often the cards are picked up. That will amount to many many gigabytes of data.

If humans left wildlife alone, it would be balanced and care for itself. The lies they tell. They say that they have to take or shoot the horses so they don't suffer-that is the most stupid thing. It's sad when they lose their life to a predator, but that's wildlife. It's horrible when they lose their life to humans. Thank you for all that you do. I wish so much that if other everywhere would do the same. Not interfer but keep an eye for those they can help. I have a question...Do you give any video to universities ..or do they ask for any. They could learn so much and teach others how to handle them when needed and also show how the wild thrives. We need really good equine veternarians. And farriers. That do out of love and take care of all the others. Even the wolves. Thank you always for what you all do

The light chestnut/red dun mare seems to be in very poor condition...very skiny, ribs and hip bones protruding and when she walks at the end I can see her limping. I don't know how old that mare is, if she is older her condition makes sense, but as horrible as it sounds I'd rather a predator takes her down than to have her suffering from hip pain, possibly broken pelvis. Not to mention the stallion trying to breed her on top of that...poor thing. I see that this is footage from summer of 2023, did the mare even make it into this year?

Thank you for this video! Yes there must be more stallions out there to protect the herds from predators! Therefore, horses must be protected during springtime when foals are born and throughout the summer, so that the little foals will survive, instead of being wolf-food. There must be new generations of both more stallions and mares. Best regards from 🇳🇴

The sorrel mare's left hind hok or hoove is injured. Can your veterinarian check her over that's a serious limp. Please
@leavrhovec49922 күн бұрын
Sorry to say, but this is footage from last year. That mare is almost certainly dead. The injury looks to be way more than just hoof or hock, her hip is completely dropping, which suggests a pelvic injury. Very painful and in the wilderness such as this with so many predators, that means certain death.
