Once upon a time, in the 1970s, then-AWA World Champ Nick Bockwinkle was SHOT BY A GRANDMA shortly after getting in the ring for a match. Luckily, the bullet hit his championship belt that he still had on at that moment, and it acted as body armor and saved his life. True story.

piper got stabbed in the chest, one inch from his heart. he cut a great promo the next day, little white bandage on the wound. if that isn't the worst, then it has to be what happened to a montreal wrestler named bob "legs" langevin back in the 40's or 50's. a woman stabbed him from behind, upwards, in the crotch. had to be castrated. he was 19. still went on to have a pretty good career. he gave an interview 3 weeks before his death at 93yrs old, & said that his sex life was finished the moment he was hit.

Was at a house show in the Tacoma dome in 1997. Bret Hart came down the isle and a fan threw a full beer close range on him. Bret pointed at him and out of nowhere 2 huge security guys grabbed the guy and threw him over the rail. They dragged him (he didn’t walk back)to the back and no telling what they did to him after that

Sportatorium, Dallas Texas circa 1983. Saw Michael P.S. Hayes of 'The Fabulous Freebirds' get attacked by the short, skinny, foul-mouthed man behind my stepdad and I. I'm eight-years-old at the time. Dude was yelling, cussing, going bananas at the heels the whole time. Stepdad and I couldn't believe how belligerent the guy was but we got a small kick out of his antics. Michael Hayes was in a match against one of the Von Erichs and, in classic heel fashion, left the ring when he thought his opponent and the ref were getting the better of him. Michael strutted right down the isle next to my stepdad and I. Crazy dude lunged and Michael grabbed him by his thigh and armpit, threw him, head over heels, into an empty section of metal folding chairs like a pillow, knocking them down like bowling pins, without missing a beat and returned to the ring. Cops swarmed crazy dude like bees and his lady screamed like a banshee. Never saw crazy dude again. Michael wasn't even one of the physically imposing guys but he was gorilla strong. I'll never forget that!

The level of fan interaction in pro wrestling is amazing. You don’t see this with any real sport. Not even close. And that I think is one of the reasons people love wrestling so much. But with the good comes the bad, the idiots that take it way to serious. But I love the ways the wrestlers deal with unruly fans. And why shouldn’t they? These people are literally threatening their livelihoods. If someone tried to handicap me on a job site I’d go ballistic too.

One night we were doing a show at a National Guard armory in Arab, Alabama. Some drunk mark came over the rail after Dangerous Mr. Hyde, our heel manager. Long, LONG-time fans may recall Hyde as "Referee Jimmy Taylor" from the Gulas days. Anyway, this guy comes over the rail and tackles Hyde. He's on top of Hyde trying to punch him, when suddenly the heel door bursts open and RPM Alan Martin comes out at a rate of speed I didn't think he had in him. Alan sprints over there and kicks the drunk in the face like he's trying to kick a field goal. The guy's head snapped back absolutely as far as it would go, and he was done being violent for the evening.

DDP used to be a heel manager in the AWA,think it was late 80's. One show, Page was causing havoc, running around the outside of the ring when POW! some fan put him on his ass with a sucker punch to the face. Page played it off,but it was a serious shot,an actual assault. From what I remember the cops got the guy since they were already in the crowd. The footage exists on those old AWA shows between 1986-91 or so that ESPN used to run late night. Wouldn't need a reenactment since DDP actually got rocked.
