Unironically these are some of the best cops I’ve seen. Good defusing techniques, they told him the truth, they weren’t aggressive with him, they were calm, and they were trying to make sure he had some contact with his mom all while practicing good distancing and caution techniques for their own safety without escalating to weapons. This is how every cop should handle every situation first. Even though the guy ran, this shows he was still reasonable.

The uk police are specifically more violent towards white people than other races bc of political correctness. And in America the police force is afraid of interacting with black people bc of racist like you who make up myths of police brutality. Whereas with white people it’s triple that and more than half of the victims were unarmed and fleeing. I'd also like to point out that the UK shouldn't be alone there, there are many totalitarian and authoritarian regimes where policing is MUCH more violent than in the UK or the US, due simply to the lack of any due process.

The cops did a great job here. This is how you de-escalate a situation. The system is broken/unfair/unjust/violent, but this is how it should operate ideally. Someone is afraid, they don’t know what to do. They panic and run and try to escape. And rather than blast him, they actually try to talk him down. If he’d been just a little more aggressive I wouldn’t be surprised if this would’ve been a completely different story.
@KatSpicert2 жыл бұрын
This is only an exaggerated, exceptional example of how cops _usually_ are. You are statistically going to have much better interactions in much higher numbers than worse when it comes to cops, depending on the crime or reason. The problem is when the bastard cops are the loud minority and it's sad the system allows then to even exist.

@Man with hair Yeah, the correlation is inverse. The more people know their rights, the less likely they'll say a word to cops. Not all police are bad, but police unions recycle and protect the bad ones, who think nothing of lying about evidence (which is somehow legal), asking to search property even in the absence of felonies or probable cause, and can arrest people for talking back to them. Not to mention they can get away with murdering people and feign ignorance of the law under "qualified immunity". I think the police should be most severely punished for breaking the law, as they have a monumental responsibility to uphold it.

I don't like how he says "American cops get a bad rap and deservedly so". I have to disagree, obviously some bad apples will get through the system and of course those are the ones media covers and makes the police look a certain way. I watch quite a bit of Donut Operator's content and he covers a lot of bodycam footage, in most of which the cops are usually extremely patient and fair with people. And then there are people who cause a scene about the most simple things (like giving the officer your driver's license) and nowadays every bystander stops, raises their arm like a zombie and starts recording the scene, especially if the officers are *trying* to talk to a person from a minority, in these cases the bystanders usually would end up with videos which paint cops in a bad light because they purposefully or not, left out the context. Most stuff I've seen about the police officers in the US, be it a small PD or the SWAT, has been good. The small good things usually end up unreported.

Kind of a tangent but when I was in the UK last week, the police there were pretty cool. I was smoking outside a pub and this officer was just standing there chatting with me, she was saying what parts of London you have to be careful in, which tourist things are the best bang for your buck. Lot of respect for your cops cos here in NZ, our police are all stuck up af.
