Beautiful story. We have one life to live to enjoy, focus on ourselves first, and expect things to no one.

I’m retiring & turning 65 this year, excellent health, got over 5 million, no debt & I only have one step child, I can’t imagine counting on any child in old age. I see total freedom & magic ahead!

Yes, the world has changed. Filial piety only exists in Chinese historical dramas. Do not rely on your children in old age. Hold on to your assets and don't give them away. Your assets are your insurance in old age.

These are the realities of life for Senior Citizens. Sad but true. Being strong willed and independent no matter what your circumstance is, gives you peace n stability. Make your will, but hold on firmly to your assets till you breathe your last! Leave no reason to regret n be sad! Live in the NOW and enjoy each moment of each new day, with Gratitude and Thanksgiving to THE BLESSED HOLY TRINITY, GOD ALMIGHTY, our Heavenly Father, JESUS CHRIST, The only Son of God and THE BLESSED HOLY SPIRIT, the Comforter and Guide who provides, protects and watches over you as HE has promised OVER AND OVER AGAIN in HIS HOLY WORD, The BIBLE. You will never feel lonely because God Promised that ‘HE WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU NOR FORSAKE YOU TELL THE END OF THE AGE’. (Hebrews 13:5) “ Let your manner of life be without covetousness, and be content with such things as ye have; FOR HE HATH SAID, I WILL NEVER LEAVE THEE, NOR FORSAKE THEE.” Hallelujah, Amen This is my humble opinion 👑✝️🔥🕊️🛐💞☮️

Honestly we have dragged our children in meaningless race 25:00 of carrier for more and more to acquire success. High comipetition creat High pressure. High instability High work load causes health issues. Satisfaction, peace has no meaning. Thus our children are in rat race.Totally lost within themselves. They have no time time for their family. Even they don't spaire time for themselves. Then how can parents expect help or support from them. We have encouraged them to adopt such type of life style. They are not responsible for our condition You should be in present time. Time is such a strong factor, every thing is fastly changing so if possible support them financially provided no expectations. If you are not financially sound then you manage your self. Above stories are lesson to us we must be independent. And don't forget our children are not guilty. They have there own problems. Their priority is different. So live independent. Don't invest in grand children. I am also 66 and living independent with my wife. Don't think of future. Future has its own plan for you.

It's better to be rich in old age without children than be poor with children. Raise a dog or cat instead. They are forever loyal and loving.

Elderly people should join a community, like a church, and make friends. That's how one deals with loneliness in old age. Children can't be trusted to help their parents always because they have a stressful life.

In our religion teaching, it is a compulsory for children to love their parents till the end of life, paradise is under their feet. Children are appropriately repay their parents kindness given when they were small. So, we like living together with our old parents. They feel safe and secure living under their childrens' affection, while waiting for God's calling.

I am 63 years old, living alone, my story is different, I do online selling to send my granddaughter to college. After dropping off orders i treat myself eating in a restaurant. go to sing along in a mall. but i must be careful with whom mengle with, sometimes to protect myself i need to change the expression of my face to tiger look to avoid someone trying to approach me. I meet different people. Some nice, some rude.

Of course, I did. As an older Chinese person, I practise filial piety. However, I am witnessing the world change to a sorrowful state. Therefore, I don't expect my children to be filial to me, especially here in the West.
