Twice I was invited to sleepover at a house where, it was revealed years later, an adult male in the house was actively abusing the girl who invited me! In both cases my Mom was acquainted with the parents but didn't really **know** them. I actually turned down one of the invites myself because the adult male in question had already badly creeped me out when I was just spending an afternoon there with my friend. And at the only sleepover I ever had with the first friend I made in first grade (who I am still friends with, she's an amazing, brilliant and very strong person) my Mom had met her Mom and decided it was fine.... unfortunately the first thing I saw after my Mom left was a jagged hole in one wall. "What happened?" I asked. "Oh" she said, a little embarrassed, "my Dad punched a hole in the wall, he does that" It turned out her father was a very severe and often violent alcoholic, who she sometimes had to hide from 💔 Despite the fact that we were only seven, her family had nothing at all planned for us...I was directed to arrive after dinner, and we pretty much just changed up for bed, brushed our teeth and got into her room with the door closed ASAP to go to sleep. He did not bother us that night, but I did not feel safe and found it hard to sleep. Sadly, I didn't want to sleep over her house after that 😟 Having the kind of Mom in this video might feel like a burden at the time, but it's a good thing! She is likely gonna save you some trauma
@sarahortiz81912 жыл бұрын
very true I had a best friend who lived with her Dad, sisters and older brother. My mom was very protective of me but she actually let me sleepover once. Sadly years later I found out her older brother was actually molesting my best friend, his own younger sister!!! I was so shocked when I found out, because I had no idea. I wish I had known to help her but she never showed signs of sexual abuse, she was always a happy girl. Bless her soul, I was always curious to know why she immediately moved out when she was 18 and got pregnant. Now I know....

@mrivera76964 жыл бұрын
@@fairytailgirl123, I believe what "ok 01" was trying to get at is that lots of kids who had super strict parents ended up having sex & kids early on in life because they felt like the parents were suffocating them. Don't get mad at what "ok 01" wrote. Facts are facts. The sad truth is that it did happen to many teenagers. To be clear (and I think the point that you were trying to make) is that the good news is ..... just because a young person has strict parents does not automatically mean he/she will end up making bad choices. (Unfortunately, I know of at least three people in my inner circle that went that route.)
@fairytailgirl1234 жыл бұрын
