1. The guy has to be interesting - he's a puppeteer - and socially outgoing/BDE ( who tf practices their puppeteering technique at a random bar except for the insane/dedicated) 2. The fact that he had two baddies fighting over him without him saying a word demonstrates his presence/aura is mindboggling 3. This is true about hetero couples referring to each other as their partner. Before my wife and I got married, she called a piano instructor to get lessons for the both of us. She told the lady the lessons would be for both her and her partner. The piano instructor was like “nah I’m not down with that”. My wife said “down with what?” And the instructor said “I don’t do business with gays. I live my life by the Bible”. My wife couldn’t believe it. 😂😂😂

I see nothing wrong with "partner", it's OK to leave gender ambiguous. It's also OK to leave sexuality ambiguous. Those things don't need to be disclosed / discussed esp with random strangers in a bar. Especially in the context of this skit - they're taken, so why would it matter? Their answer "I'm waiting for my partner" with no further explanation, reads "I'm taken, please leave me alone." & If it really mattered + the situation called for it, one can always ask "what is your partner's gender / what are their pronouns?" (They could be agender, bisexual, and polyamorous; their partner could've been a demisexual trans woman, + neither of them would have ever known b/c they're guessing instead of asking!)
