I had my first occurrence of herpes keratitis in 2013 at the age of 32 and the second in 2021 at 40. It is horrible and extremely painful. I never had any manifestations on my skin, only in one of my eyes. For me it took around 7 weeks for the infection to subside. I have several scars on that cornea and my vision is completely blurred. Imagine as if you had your eye open underwater, that's how I see with this eye. The other eye, thank God, was never infected. I'm afraid that the next time it happens, little of my vision will be left. I am Brazilian.

My first case of Viral keratitis was unbelievably painful and felt like sandpaper going across my eye everytime I opened or closed my eye... I find the trigger for me is stress and and fluctuations in my Thyroid functions...

This is good to know. I was doubly cursed in that department. Got chicken pox at age 9. Then, 2 years later, I got the other kind at a birthday party and was caught off guard when an older man kissed me. I don't remember the exact details because there was so much going on at the party. He probably knew he had it and was passing it on to others, including babies. I remember being feverish with purple swollen gums and the dreaded sore. I lied to kids at school saying I picked at my lips too much, and it got infected. It was so embarrassing. I get the active outbreaks from time to time. But I don't get the tingling until after I've already had the breakout. My warning systems do not work. So, if I notice issues, I'll mention it so they can isolate the cause. Thank you.

Hi, I was diagnosed with 0.25 and 0.5 astigmatism both 180. My doc suggested me to wear a glass, i also happen to suffer from photophobia somewhat not very severe but yes. What do you think, should i buy glasses or let it be since it's a very small power? I hope you do see this comment.

Herpes zoster is no joke. I had when I was 23, and did realize until I had rash for a while. Thought I was too young to get it. While having the virus itself is horrible, the nerve pain is worse, it flares up when you stressed, angered, and sad, it lasted for years. If you’re able to, I’d recommend getting the shingles vaccine. Unfortunately because I’m so when I had it, and can’t get the vaccine yet I can still get it again. 👎🥴😡
