I've been wearing corrective glasses practically my whole life and this is the first time I actively thought to understand what astigmatism really is when I clicked on this video. Now I know what the -1.0, -2.0 is for. I didn't know that light streaks are also caused by it. Next time I go out, I'll check and see exactly what kind of astigmatism I have for both my eyes.

Cool video! Im -2.00 & -2.75 and I absolutely cannot fathom driving around without glasses with my vision. One thing I think is interesting, is how the night sky looks with & without glasses, especially the moon- and also stars basically disappearing. Also, less interestingly, how things in the house can look really clean without glasses, when they obviously need a clean with glasses on. 🤓

Hi, Antonio, from a small remote Icelandic village. Love your videos <3. I was born with various vision problems, and started wearing +11 diopter glasses when I was 2. I also have astigmatism, strabismus, and nystagmus. Over the years, my vision has improved naturally, and since the age of about 15 (I am 30 now) I have been prescribed glasses with roughly +3 diopter, -1.50 cylinder, and 10 degree axis (small to no variation in the eye exam results since then). I wouldn't consider my vision to be particularly bad (though it could be argued that I've never experienced normal vision, so I have no point of comparison), and at least from a distance I definitely wouldn't describe my vision as blurry regardless if I wear my glasses or not. There is however a catch - no matter what I do, I can't read from a distance, meaning that I could never pass the driving school eye exam (I only get to about two lines above the minimum required) or follow my lifelong dream to be a pilot. I would truly appreciate it if you could explain the following things to me: 1. If I struggle recognizing text from a distance, how come I have always been given glasses with positive diopters by every single ophthalmologist I've ever been to? Like you're saying in the video, not seeing things from far away is called myopia, and it corresponds to negative diopters. That is also what every other reliable source I've found is saying. So how come I've always been given positive diopter glasses? I simply don't get it. 2. As far as I know, the highest diopters allowed for driving (at least around here) are A LOT higher than mine, maybe +6 or +8 or something like that. I also happen to personally know people with supposedly much worse eyesight than mine that are being allowed to drive without any problem. Then how come my vision is still worse and not enough? Is it not the diopters that cause this? Could it be the astigmatism or something else? I am sooooo confused. I was told i have an astigmatism but i dont have those "streak" lines like the street lights show. with or without my glasses on... Edit: I just tried with my phone flash light from a distance of course. and I can see the light dispersed evenly throughout all directions. I have no clue what my eye doctors are talking about.

I really dont understand this at all. My prescription is +9. I take my glasses off and its probably closer to the -2 or -3 mark. If im +9 for the prescription what is my actual vision supposed to be at? And -2 or -3 isnt as bad as what u show in the video for me at least. Its no where near -1 but i can still see better than -2 or -3. Its very weird. I've been looking online and been trying multiple sites watching multiple videos. But that all show similar or same results.
