Not at all. He was in a great situation in Winnipeg but wanted to play video games more than practice, then complained he wasn't gifted a spot on the 1st line and forced a trade. This is from a one-dimensional winger who managed to score 40 goals all of one time.

Laine reminds me of PK Subban in the way his play is influenced by emotion. Subban was more outgoing and prone to bursts of anger, but their confidence and mental state play such a massive role in how well they can play. Both are capable of being genuine difference makers, but can also end up in slumps when the confidence is low. I really hope Laine continues to find his footing in Montreal because the hockey world has forgotten that this guy can be a point per game 40-50 goal scorer.

Great to see Patty lightin' dat lamp. He adds a deadly feature to the top 6. He wont help keep the puck out of the Habs twine , though, he can be a liability on D. He's gotten better. He will stand up for team mates and he will smoke the odd dude hard into the boards. You missed it in the Laine highlights, he threw a beauty last night. He's sneaky tough. Dylan Larkin is still out of breath from when Laine caught him behind the net with a legal shoulder in the WC years ago. Larkin ran him for years after, I watched for it the first time the Jets played Detroit with Laine in the lineup. If you ever wondered why the mild mannered Larkin had a thing for Laine, that is why. He nearly knocked him out cold.

I am so happy for Laine. I've always seen potential in him when he played for the Jets. It's sad that he's had a lot of mental problems and injuries, but at his best he's really dangerous in the right role. I think the blue jackets didn't know how to take advantage of this. I wish him nothing but the best. I think he has received too much criticism and hatred, at least in Finland

@@GuillaumeRouleau Nothingf to piss ME off, but I don't think he was the best team player, for sure he has changed and grown up now. When life gives tou lemons, you usually start to handle things more maturaly. But when you are the player who shows throat cutting signs to your coach when he doesn't let you play, tells pretty much... (He was probably 15 or 16 at that time). I just realized what they're doing with that first unit powerplay setup. Hutson is QB-ing from the right wall. Suzuki is the last man back with a lethal shot. Laine and Caufield are high and low left wall shooting options. Slafkovksky is the big slot man for puck retrieval, screening, and shooting when goalies cheat to Laine or Caufield. This is a 5 forward power play unit with the only defenseman playing as a right winger. Its like a southpaw power play. I know it was just moved around with Suzuki keeping the puck onside at the line just prior to the goal, but this should be a common setup for these 5. Caufield and Laine are both on their strong-side, Suzuki is defensively competent enough to play at the defenseman's spot, this might be a hell of a unit soon. Its wildly unorthodox and therefore unpredictable. This is the power play we've desired for YEARS.

it is mind-boggling that laine's first game was the first time marty st louis has had a full lineup with nobody out with injuries.

This is a totally different team with Laine. Everyone else gains confidence. And that power play, who does the opposition focus on Liane or Goal Caulfield ? More pieces will be coming stick with the process and the results will follow. ❤

@juhomantynen46385 күн бұрын
The only problem there would be making the team too top heavy. Caufield is already a goal scorer and Suzuki isn't a slouch either. They should try it, but I'm afraid it could hurt the team overall.

Iv watched every game this season and I can tell you there just seems to be a difference in the way the whole team is playing. Monty is doing super well & Laine has scored two goals in the last two games and every game Laine scores the habs seem to win so far its nice to see the team I love so much playing some great hockey & it would be a damn shame if montreal got rid of Laine considering all he needed was a team and a fan base to believe in him again to do well and he's got that and more in montreal
@Babstock085 күн бұрын
They played a solid game against the Rangers, a decent game against Boston (especially if you take away those 3 goals in 2 minutes) and good game against the Islanders and another good game here. Their PK is top 3 in the league and their PP is middle of the pack and that was before Laine's return. They're still making a few egregious errors in their own end per game but they're improving and we need to be patient, despite what some of the more fanatical media and fans would have you think. They seemed to have turned the corner regarding their overall play and are at least in the mix every game now. Their special teams last year were terrible and this year they're between good and awesome. I think by the end of the year MSL will have their 5v5 play sorted out (and it looks like it's getting there in the second quarter so far). Ole Two turds race down a drain... 🤦♂

It's the Kovalev or Radulov effect all over again and I'm ready for it! 😁 On a side note, both the USA and Canada built their 4 Nations team in very questionable ways. How can the US completely disregard their best goal scorer ( Caufield )? At least put the guy on the 4th line and use him on the 2nd powerplay wave, or TO THE VERY LEAST use him as a cheerleader on the bench, geez! But Canada built their team worst, I have a very bad feeling about it. It reminds me of the Nagano olympics teams. Did they realize the 4 Nations tournament is mostly a huge NHL ad? Because why didn't they add Bedard? They could've put Crosby, McDavid and Bedard on the same line just for one shift, kinda like what happened with Gretzky and Lemieux when they played together, and make the whole thing go viral worldwide!! Past, present and future playing together!! It was a no brainer!!!

@@MAM11234 In any case, you guys have an invalid argument because Matthews and Caufield don't play the same position, neither do they shoot from the same side, so they could very well play in the same team and on the same line should things come to that.
