I've been lucky enough to see this performance live and I've always thought that Maceo doesn't play fair here. I really remember having the feeling that Maceo was totally jealous of how the crowd went crazy during this organ solo and decided to stop it abruptly at its full climax. Listen again and we can clearly hear that the solo was about to continue.

I've always wondered what the "8va" means in the score.

Play the written note(s) an octave above. Example: Written - C4 (8va), Played - C5 It's usually used to avoid having to write 15 ledger lines. There's also 16va and I'm sure there is a 24va but I've never seen it. 8vb means the opposite. That's usually used in bass clefs though.

​@@cymtastique Actually they write it as 15ma when it's two octaves (or 15mb but that's rather uncommon). I used to be able to explain why this is from the Italian word choice versus intervals but suffice to say, it's one of those Rules. As for a third octave, that would probably end up following the same rule and thus being 23 something (the -va and -ma come from different Italian ordinal number endings and I've no clue what 23rd would be). But that's also getting into the realm of markings being more confusing than helpful. Rather a different trick would be better: you can write a clef sign with a tiny 8 above or below it. This happens most frequently in choral music for the Tenors, which is written treble clef with the tiny 8 below to show that the entire line is considered 8vb. So, if you were really needing to write 3 octaves up, you'd best to change clef to one with a tiny 8 on top, moving it all up one octave, and then marking the music itself 15ma. Thus getting you two more. Music theory is such fun innit xD
