I love Mr. Burns. Because he is the definition of "awful boss, brilliant business man" kinda like Buck Strickland, Mr. Burns will constantly do scummy shit and act like he's not in the wrong. However, he still understands that he needs to treat his employees with some modicum of respect and that includes rewarding them when they do good. He knows without his employees he has nothing so he puts on a fake facade for them and makes sure what he does isn't bad enough for them to quit.

Ironically when the simpsons first aired, Mr Burns was a caricature of the wealthy elite but nowadays he’s a better person than most of those elite people today. Free coffee and doughnuts every day, rarely lays anyone off, paid company events, allows employees to come back after they’ve quit, bribes inspectors to overlook mistakes, etc. Pair all that with the fact that his plant is always run down and patchworked together shows that he cares more about his employees than his power plant.
