The hardest part is getting enough reach with the putty knife at the corners closet to the door. This method works, but I left a lot of bare metal scratches on the paint. Luckily it's under the trim of the window, so I won't see it. I covered the deep scratches with a little epoxy primer.

@gtech Yeah you really need a few tools to do it properly. Definitely a longer tool to get that problem area. I’m not concerned about scratching the paint because I’ll be painting the whole car again and fitting lexan glass. Although all tools rely on a reciprocating action and scratches can’t be avoided.

@Gabr Ray Well that’s good you managed to sort that out. Those kinds of things are becoming expensive to replace. I’m thinking about making Perspex ones for mine.

Would it cut through the glue easier if I heat up the edge of the tool?

Good question, it might help. I’d say if you did the job on a hot day it’d soften the glue but it’s pretty hardened now. Probably a combination of a few tools might make the job faster.

Hey Bro, cars been stuck in the South Island ever since I moved. I’ve been back to grab stuff from the storage unit and have started retrofitting it into my EK Civic. It’s almost done and I’ll be testing it soon. Learnt a lot from doing it to the Civic.
