It actually just is metal. The character playing drums , Nyango Star, is actually meant to be a metal drummer. "According to the documentary, Nyango is an apple which has been inhabited by the spirit of a dead cat, and now has drumming superpowers which enable it to play some pretty insane metal behind the kit. I find it funny that this drumming actually isn't even really metal, it's a pretty standard rock beat, just played faster than usual. I'd say it's the closest to punk rock, of all things (or J-rock which it pretty much is). Deathcore specifically is much heavier than that (and is generally amongst the heaviest genres rhythm-wise), although some other metal genres could be pretty close to this video. I live and teach in Japan and something I haven't seen noted in the comments (at least as far as I can see) is how relevant the original video is for Japanese people. The thing is, central heating is seriously rare here; most people get through winter with localised heating (kerosene heaters, electric blankets being the most affordable) so it seriously sucks balls in winter here. The average apartment or house also has terrible insulation, at least compared to the Canadian houses I lived in. My students all resonated with the original video so much they all showed their parents the song, which is a major achievement if you ask me.

The song is by a group called 打首獄門同好会 Uchikubi Gokumon Doukoukai (Beheading Hell-gate/prison-gate Hobby-group). Song title is 布団の中から出たくない "Futon No Naka Kara Detakunai"(I don't want to get out of my futon bed) I never knew Nyango Star covered this song, but nice!
