Love the part where it says “it didn’t say none of this on indeed” employers do just straight up lie
@ledfloyd9035
@ledfloyd9035 2 жыл бұрын
That's why I don't feel bad at all embellishing my resume. So long as you don't lie about something that could come back to bite you in the ass screw them.

@@ledfloyd9035 You got any examples of what to lie and what not to lie about?
@ledfloyd9035
@ledfloyd9035 2 жыл бұрын
@@stevenmonsanto5324 well don't lie about a skill you don't actually have. For instance, don't say you know how to operate heavy machinery when you actually dont have any experience or knowledge on the subject. Another example would be something like saying you're proficient in excel when you've never opened an excel worksheet in your life. You should be able to use you judgment to consider situations like these when handing in a resume/application. Now what you can "embellish" are things like the amount of time you've spent at a previous job. Say you worked at a factory for 8 months, on your resume put a year, so long as it doesn't conflict with other work history. Don't leave gaps in your work history is what I'm getting at. Most employers will ask you why you weren't working for 3 months after you quit a previous job. You can also make you job title sound much fancier than what it was. For instance, you weren't a cashier you were a "customer service representative". When filling out your references, never use friends and family (so they say) but how is a potential employer going to know your main reference was actually your best friend and not your previous manager? So long as you tell him to expect a call from said employer and give you a glowing recommendation. Employers cannot ask previous employers if you were fired and why. That's against the law in the United States and if they do you can sue them. Just be creative with it. As I said earlier employers lie to their employees all the time, you don't need to feel bad about making your resume more appealing.

whats annoying is them grinding your ass for making a mistake and your just like my bad because of how they are saying it and they are just like oh im not fussin at ya, i dont expect you to know this. but then tell me im doing something wrong and not say how im doing it wrong and expect a response from me, there is no winning but to be fair the people im talking about are big karens, and they just look for any excuse to be excessively upset. like dont manage people if you cant deal with people. was like arguing with a child and if you got her in a slip where she contradicts herself or just make her look retarded she would start crying and go sulk in her office, then come back 30 min later trying to contribute again to the same debate or argument trying to find a way to wright me up. the owner knew how she was and kept saying he was trying to replace her. never did. she once told an elderly woman in wheelchair who was a customer, that she must be lucky to get to sit all day. the family had the same response as me just jaw dropping, they just kinda looked at her and was like ok. and didnt say another word. i almost got her ass fired for how she was acting one day when her front of house employees were just not to be found and we were packed, ,mostly what they do is take orders, but she was absolutely losing her shit, like an alcoholic, karen screamm, like even the customers were telling her to calm down. i dont hate were but goddamn i cannot stand the way she acts.

@Squintis
@Squintis 2 жыл бұрын
@@genocyber4842 sadly, sometimes you don’t have the luxury of time working in warehouses. They only put stuff up for legal reasons, but if you’re being careful to not hurt yourself and not rushing like an animal, the manger gets upset and you’re threatened to let go. When you’re leaning over or throwing boxes above you, a belt would definitely be useful. But then you couldn’t move as fast. Just like no one tells you you can’t use the step ladder, but since there aren’t that many and it slows you down moving it, they discourage it. Now I think they don’t even use the stair things, it’s just a box you stand on.

"It ain't hard. Just stand here 12 hours and hold this sign." Let me tell you...if you've never had a job just standing in one place for hours and hours and hours...it sounds easy, but it's really a damn form of torture. Humans just are not built to stand in one spot without moving around or sitting down or something. Your whole body is going to hurt after that, and you probably aren't going to be sleeping very well for a week or two because your legs are going to be swollen and your feet are going to throb and hurt like crazy. It's also mentally draining because there is no mental stimulation whatsoever.

I remember having a job like that. I ain’t last long 😂. That shit was soooooo boring. I remember once thinking i had been working at least an hour….looked up not even 10 minutes had passed 😭. Gotta respect the people that can do those jobs standing in one spot doing the same task over and over and over and over again for hours, days, months, and years on end. I have a three strikes rule for jobs and I'm out. Aside from that there are few things that I have to know off the rip, number one, if the job says one thing online and when I get there it's something different that's a strike. Number two, I need a set schedule, hourly and daily. It trips me out sometimes how some companies expect you to be in on time but cannot respect that you need to be out on time as well, for instance if I'm scheduled to do 10 hours then that's what I'm doing not 11 not 12 but 10 I got a f****** life to manage to you know, if that's a problem then that's a strike. Number three, I'm not going in any tight crawl spaces or similar. that's automatic I'm out. Number four, the work and the pay has to make sense, in other words, I'm one person making one person's wage, I'm not doing something that in reality would run better with more workers, for instance if I'm flipping burgers I'm not doing the register too when you can get another person to do that separate job, I'm not wearing myself out just so you can save money by squeezing work that requires multiple people. Thats a strike. Number five, disjointed incompetent management with terrible social skills and foresight. that's a strike. Number six, just like the crawl spaces I'm not scaling anything, no scaffolds no harnesses, I'm out.

The crazy part about this is that it's true af. I worked at a target warehouse for about 3 months some months back. Worked 12hr shifts 4 days out the week, 6am-6pm. Got two 30-minute breaks which were really about 20 minutes due to the 5 minute walk to the break room and another wait to even get to the microwave if you brought food. Winters were cold and hot days were brutal due to no heat or AC. And don't let them find out you have any experience with any of the vehicles or that you are an efficient worker. Those kind of people get taken advantage of and get stuck doing almost everything if needed. I learned that the hard way. I stayed my 3 months for the sign on bonus and got the fuck up out of there.

Dude, same. That was the worst job I have ever done. I literally said I had forklift and powered vehicle training yet they threw me into packaging, ran me ragged, and just treated us like shit. My final straw was when they decided that they were gonna change our supervisor over to some 22 year old ZOOMER who was a supervisor over at FedEx before coming there who was fired for firing too many people. I just walked out immediately after the meeting and said fuck this.

This literally happened with me a couple of months back. My roommates mom hooked me up with a job at her business in a call center. I was going into it thinking it was going to be the easiest thing ever. I pushed through training, but the first day was when it started to go down hill. Every single call I was getting cussed out. By the end of the week I was out. I went into the office and told them when I started my lunch break. I was originally going to come back in and finish the rest of the day, but I just decided to head home after getting my food.

Really though. They say the shift is 8 hours or whatever but then slide in the fact that you can't leave until the work is finished for the day. Meanwhile you are intentionally and knowingly understaffed and then everything is critiqued. Then they wanna add more daily tasks when you don't have enough staff to get the current stuff done. Now at the same time overtime is frowned upon because they don't like paying 1.5x. My favorite part is when they want you to train people and do your regular job at the same time.

Then an hour in someone was like "who are you?". Then some lady flipped the fug out on me for not counting her change quick enough. Ironically I wasn't counting anything -- I was waiting on the janky machine to spit it out. It wasn't my first food job. I definitely knew the basics. But that place was so goddamn disorganized. I gave em the headset back and just walked out. Then they messed up my check and paid me for 22 hours instead of 2.2 ... yeah I ain't say anything to em about that tho.

I remember many years ago painting a Macy's. We were expected to work twelve how shifts, and occasionally back to back for a total of 24 with no ten minute breaks. Only a 30 minute lunch. They had certain sections of the store closed off but not the areas we were painting and we weren't allowed to tarp off the merchandise to prevent paint splatter getting on anything. They expected us as the employee to pay for any product we damaged. There was $3,000 rugs and God knows the price tag on the mattresses. We were getting payed $13/hr with yearly "bonuses" of $34 around Christmas time. My boss would paint a section of the store and then Macy's management would say it was painted the wrong color only for him to ream us a new one when only he had been in that area all day. It was one of the most ridiculous jobs I'd ever worked. I decided to never go back after the 8 month mark. @@Ken_Scaletta Holy shit, this means you've been through some basic training & STILL the job sucked. In my last job we had someone that had come from the service, I'm not sure what branch, but they worked there for 3 weeks & then threw in the towel. It was for a Japanese parts maker. 12 hour shifts 6 days a week, sundays too. (Japan is going to work themselves to death, its hard to get it up when your dead tired) The person said "Fuck it".. just left, no 2 weeks or nothing. I left said job as well.. I did put in a 2 weeks notice, which my god it was torture doing that.

My favourite is when they don't train enough on something and just throw you into it. Like you have no idea how certain products work because the supervisor who trained you (god bless them) couldn't teach a class of preschoolers how to play blocks (or worse when they get someone who started a week prior to you to train you and you're both looking clueless looking at each other like 👀) but yeah go ahead and answer calls from customers and sound like a dumba*s. Companies don't understand how VITAL it is for their own businesses sake, to find someone who can properly train new hires, like have a whole system ready for training. The only place I remember working at that gave a thorough 2 week training for new hires was Lush Cosmetics when I worked at their customer care office. 1 week JUST about the products (booklets, videos, demos, tours of the facilities, etc) and 1 week onboarding with a buddy. There may have even been an extra couple days before that for like basic company history/orientation.

So true. I've had jobs that had 3 weeks of training and most of it was pretty irrelevant crap alot of safety stuff repeated a million times. I much more prefer on the job type training sitting in a class for 3 weeks is a waste of everyone's time I can understand it for sales though. They milk out the hiring process at so many of these places to like it's irritating.

I quit my job at a movie theater after a week. Mandatory weekends, holidays, and 11-hour shifts all for minimum wage. Plus I had an hour commute to work that was literal hell during the weekends when the bus ran on alternate schedules. Not to mention the manager who hired us resigned literally the day after we were all hired. The bottom line, don't work at big chain movie theaters.

I've quit on a training day. I was hired to work part time at a Target during the holiday season. I wanted a side job while I was about to start working at an elementary school as a paraprofessional. I had told the person who hired me that I was going to attend the Target training but I wasn't sure if the hours would line up with my hours at school. She knew ahead of time that I was hesitant. The training was on Halloween at night. It was a 5 and a half hour training. It sucked. When I saw what the extra responsibilities were going to be at Target (and knowing how awful the Holiday season typically is) I told the training manager: "I'm sorry but I'm just not the right person for this job." And I was right. I wasn't going to stress myself over a retail job when I was starting my first real full-time position.

@@Littleathquakes It's not a waste of time. Lots of companies format training at those jobs so you know if you want to stay or not. They give you a taste of most or all of what's to come. The application and interview process should be more revealing about the job than it is. The real waste of time would be for the company to hide what you'll be doing on the job until you're a more solid part of the crew, which is what some companies do. It would be a waste of time to work a job you don't like for money that sucks ass, like most Americans do. To admit the job wasn't right for her was a responsible thing to do for herself and the company. Also, she's a teacher as her main job. One the least entitled positions a person can have in a society is to teach other people. To try and put someone down for taking responsibility and make them feel entitled for it is a waste of time.

This reminds me of a job I got way back in the day. It was for a "Customer Service Rep" for a security company taking incoming calls to help customers with any issues they have with their security system. I went in for the "interview" which turned out to be a group orientation because we were all hired on the spot and it turned out to be a sales job cold calling people to sell them security systems. After the orientation they sat us in cubicles to start working, oh and the manager gets all the commission for your first weeks of sales, I sat there for 10 minutes pissed off and got up and told them I left my water bottle in the car and never came back.

Sometimes the pay would be way less, the schedule would be completely different and hell the job would be completely different from what they listed... Plus the biggest LIE was benefits. People say "Everybody is hiring" yeah but the amount of actual decent jobs that are out there is very slim. Majority is bullshit ass jobs. I finally found one that give you great benefits and they value they workers. Huge company but with a small local branch with 15 employees.
