Colin now knows he has feelings for Pen, but is unsure If those feelings are reciprocated, because of Lord Debling. The conversation he has with Violet shows that he is also considering If what he feels is romantic love, because It's his chilhood friend. I think he also IS holding on to this new persona who rejects being that romantic fool he was in season 1, because of his heartbreak. So he is in this headspace of uncertainty. Meanwhile he can't help but watch Pen from afar, follow her anywhere she wants, save her from The balloon, and ask advice from his mother. I think he needed sometime to understand himself better before taking actions, you know?

This is a really good point. Colin is, fundamentally, insecure and unsure of himself. He's hiding himself inside this false persona because the last time he put his real self out there in season 1, he got heartbroken and publicly humiliated. When he tried to seek closure on the Marina situation in season two, she called him a child. Which, honestly, fair assessment, but it drove him to try to "grow up" by affecting the rakish persona of his older brothers. It's an ill-fitting act on the squishy little cinnamon roll he really is, and it's making him even lonelier and more miserable than if he just sat in his heartbreak for a little while. So, now that Pen is trying to move on from him, Colin is already confused about who he is and how he's feeling about someone he somehow hadn't noticed is his favorite human.

I'm a little confused by your take on Colin/Lord Debling. You talk about how, when you really like someone, you're suddenly more self-conscious and afraid to share your feelings. But then you miss that that's exactly the difference between Colin and Debling. The reason Debling "knows what he wants" is because there aren't any real feelings there. He wants a practical match with a woman he doesn't plan on falling in love with, who he can leave for years at a time to run his estate. And that's also the reason Colin isn't just immediately claiming Penelope as his own. Because his feelings are very real and deep, and he's both trying to figure them out, and trying to gather the courage to say something. This is the first time in his life he's felt this way, and he has no idea if his feelings will be reciprocated, and he's scared of losing Penelope if she doesn't feel the same way. Also, she's not the "last option" for him. He literally has all the options right now, and he's ignoring them because he's focused on her. And I'm sorry, but we can't blame him for "wasting" her time or ours. He didn't owe her anything just because she liked him. It's not like he was stringing her along- he just didn't know about her feelings. She never said anything. You'll notice that as soon as the idea of more than friendship was presented to him, he was on board immediately. If she had followed through on telling him her feelings in season 1, this might have happened then. It's not all on his shoulders. You can prefer Debling for yourself. That's cool. He's a handsome man, and maybe personality-wise he's more your type. But he's not right for Pen. She doesn't love him (he's just the only guy showing any interest in her, so she's going for it) and he can't give her the life she wants.

But Lord Debling can not offer love and he mad that clear. He goes on a journey for 3 years..... and his wife have to stay behind. And Penelope is looking for love in some point. She dserves not only a nice guy... I wish for her feeling passion and love as well.... About Colin. His mum said to him that his dad has gathered his courage to ask her. Colin is conflicted about how to express his feelings.... and he have to man up and just tell Penelope how he feels. Looking forward what you're gonna say about the next episode. 😊

No, Benedict's true love is not older. At the ballon event you can see that Pen nods to Colin, a sign to come over, she wanted to talk to him. You have a beautiful voice. 🎶
