@@bubblesthemonkey6615Nathan Mackinnon is the most unstoppable player in the NHL and has been for a good while now. Even when my Blues were a defensive juggernaut they struggled to slow him down and he consistently broke down maybe the best defense at the time over and over again like it was nothing. Whereas a guy like Mcdavid was would just skate in a straight line and hope to burn the defense was more manageable as the Blues up until they started to rebuild in 2023 kept Mcdavid to under a point a game until that time, unlike Mackinnon who was pretty much unstoppable when he decided to take over the game. What separates and makes Mackinnon so much better and harder to deal with is his shiftiness and explosive skating style. Mackinnon skates almost like a running back in the NFL by changing speeds and directions constantly making it difficult for the defense to read what’s about to happen in the play. I’ve said for probably the past five years that Mackinnon is the best player in the league and now everyone is finally giving the man his rightful recognition he deserves.

Should be interesting to see how the physical side of his game carries into the playoffs. Running over guys like Emberson is fun to watch, but dishing out additional offensive-side big hits takes its toll. Come post season, defenders will take that trade every time to separate MacKinnon from the puck and let the bodies collide, even if they end up getting the worst of it. Everyone shifts it up into another gear come the post season, especially when it comes to physical play. It's hard to even imagine MacKinnon has another gear, it almost feels like he's playing post season hockey while the rest of the league is keeping some in the tank for the rest of the schedule. If he does still have another gear, it could be a historic performance.
