Ryan has rarely seen simply quitting your job as the first thing to do. There are smarter ways to become an entrepreneur, especially if you have a family. Odds are you’re currently working 40-hour weeks. To transition, you need to start doing what you want to do as a side-hustle.
Steps to take:
Decide what side-hustle to try. You may hate the first thing you try, or it might fail. That’s ok! You will gain experience.
Be willing to put in 20 hours of work per week on your side-hustle. This means you’ll be working a total of 60 hours per week.
Integrate yourself fully into the new business you’re learning.
Be patient. Ryan needed 3 years to be able to quit his first job and couch flipping to be able to focus on house flipping completely.
Consider your situation and be sure you can keep paying the bills once you’ve quit your 9-5.
Decide how much success you need in order to quit your job. You need to have sustained income from your side hustle for at least a few months to make a good judgment here.
Have some savings built up before you transition completely. A healthy reserve for a business is 3-6 months.
Watch this next video about marketing so you’ll know all you have to consider getting started!

I was working 6am - 11pm with work and side hustle for nearly 2 years before I decided it was time to quit the 9-5 and just focus on my business. Now Im still working my business roughly 7-3 but its on my own schedule and no boss or quota to worry about and its up to me when i work and how I want to plan my day. Quitting the job was the best thing for me in all aspects.... physical, mental, spiritual, emotionally. Its a lot of work but totally worth doing your own thing.

A job sometimes can limit a person from growth mentally and physically. I quit my jo last year i had already started a KZbin channel then and now its on 107 subscribers. My job was very toxic however when you are at a job where you modelled to think at a certain level and you are not allowed to think at your full xapacity you will appreciate working at your own thing. It has been hard growing the channel as i am still small but i appreciate starting something.

This is one of the channels that gave me the courage to start my KZbin channel 6 months ago about self development. Now I have 382 subs and > 100 hours of watch time. I know it’s not comparable with others but I’m still proud I started because I’ve been learning so many lessons that I couldn’t have learned without getting started in the 1st place.

I currently have a great job, but everyday I walk in I know there is more I can do with my life and become much bigger and more successful. I’m watching your tutorials on flipping homes and this year I am going to take the leap and purchase my first home to flip. Thank you Ryan for all your help!

This really resonates with me because I’m right at that transition point right now where I’ve made multiple six figures from my side business/hustle. The most difficult hurdle for me is that my day job is a very nice six figures as well. It’s a tough spot because I have a very large mortgage, a wedding, and planning on having a kid within the next couple years. This video gives me a lot to think about. Thanks Ryan!

@@RyanPinedahey, I’d really like to make a video about the points you made here and how it’s applying to my life/situation. Are you open to letting me cut up parts of this video for mine? Totally cool if you say no, I just feel like a lot of what you said hit home for me.

Man I’m in the same exact boat brother. Currently cleared mid six figures at my side job and about the same at my 9-5.. Got mortgage; kids, stay at home wife etc.. I decided to Pay myself rent for the next 12 months and make sure my business can hold it and then at the end of those 12 months, if I’m still in the green, go ahead and make the jump and I already have 1 year of rent while I make the jump

Not all businesses can be side hustles first imo. My brick and mortar entertainment business required me to dive fully in before we even had any revenue. We are about to hit our 1 year anniversary and I wouldn’t change anything about how I did it.

Some people don’t state this also Congrats my guy I would just tell people save about 9months for expenses and GO FULL TIME 12hrs on your business and watch how it flourishes because the side hustle thing people run out of patience and become burnt out its just how it goes

My work wants to eliminate my position within the next year, they’re trying to pressure me into quitting but I’ll hang on until I can find something that matches what I make. I’m considering going back to school maybe my local community college and giving IT a try. Definitely a high demand skill and I can make more money to invest down the road.

Your right, businesses have different cycles. I'm in the the music business (a recording artist) and I run an ATM business with my business partner. I definitely think the ATM business will be a quicker payout than music but the music business will a bigger lump sum that I can't rely on consistently yet. I'm so ready to quit but it's hard to get a nest egg going. I'm in the process of rebuilding my credit but it's a slow grind that I wish could just happen now because I had working for these crazy jobs lol.
