Gamedevs usually never win with cutscenes. Either they make an important cutscene skippable and loads of people miss out on important lore, or they make a fifteen-minute long unskippable cutscene and you forget that you're playing a game and think that you're watching a movie or something
@NagKai_G Жыл бұрын
OMORI is a game that, although it has a good story and gameplay, only has 3 to 4 skipable cutscenes in the entire game (all of which are for the major bosses of the game), which although not a problem the first time around, makes subsequent playthroughs a bit sloggy when there's a 3 minute cutscene you can't skip.

that's why you make video games, instead of movies. just don't have cutscenes, people aren't here to for a movie. i think the souls series gets it just right, minimal cutscenes, lore is optional, focus entirely on having good gameplay. i feel like game devs think the primary gameplay loop of most games is "get cutscene, proceed to next cutscene"

@xerveeon Жыл бұрын
@@Steve-xo5pq It can be assumed that they don't think ost means cutscene and that they indeed mean the song that plays during Radagon's fight, as that is all that was featured in the video. In a discussion of relatively little importance, it isn't very important to use the pure technical definition of words and acronyms. I say that because there is no need to be so pedantic over someone using "ost" in the place of "theme" because you can pretty easily guess that that is what they meant, or you could ask them to clarify in a way that doesn't insult their intelligence.
@delta3244 Жыл бұрын
@@Steve-xo5pq There is no minimum amound of music implied by the word soundtrack. Any set of music which is written to accompany something like a game or movie is a soundtrack, including individual pieces for individual bosses. I think one of the games that has this worst is Genshin. People be skipping through dialogue and then say the story is horrible. *AND THEN* after literally speed running through the story and all of the missions like they were tryna go for a World Record, say that there’s no content.

when I played blazblue(a fighting game not an rpg) I was initially watching the cutscenes, but the first cutscene was dragging on and on and on, so I ended up skipping it, and then I realized that the characters aren't doing anything aside from talking so I skipped the entire game. that game had A LOTS of cutscenes, I just wanted to kick some ass godammit. a simple generic "good guys good, bad guys bad" would be enough for this game. I wonder what the hell was going on in the story.

Guys who skip cutscenes are the male version of girls who asks questions during a movie like “who is that person?” In a character introduction scene

Well, still beat waiting for 15 minutes 5 times in a row

Imagine a game where skipping the cut scene invalidated what happened in that cut scene. Like you show a cut scene of them picking up the starter sword but if they skip it they never picked up that sword.

You know what I hate more, when you _accidently_ skip a cutscene you now can't rewatch...

I think it should be mandatory to have an option to rewatch unlocked cutscenes in the pause menu

Sometimes you're 5 minutes into a cutscene so you finally decide to put down the controller and 5 seconds later a quick time event appears and you miss it, die and have to watch the cutscene again.

I only skip cutscenes after my first playthrough and want to get in the action. It's more of a "Yeah yeah, I've seen this a billion times."
