Also, what did you think of the video?! What's your opinion on the topic??? I'd love to hear it :) I'll be reading every comment.

TikTok has basically shadow banned me for calling attention to the theft and now my videos there get a fraction of what they once did. While the stolen content is still doing great. Obviously everytime I bring this up someone quotes the whole 'but MrBeast said steal my content' thing. Well when you aren't MrBeast and your content needs those eyeballs to pay for editors, that logic falls apart. Also the amount of people who think those accounts are me is insane. I regularly get congratulated by friends on a viral tiktok even when I haven't posted anything. What happens when these accounts start taking brand deals or using their identity theft to prey on fans? I've tried to get verified to at least put some kind of protection up here, but I've been denied every time. I'm represented by a big agency called CAA, even they have been told they won't verify me. These accounts are rapidly becoming bigger than my own. Seriously fuck TikTok. Anyways man. Thanks for the great video and insight.

huh, 60 seconds ago..... It's weirdly otherworldly seeing the comment of someone so well known, when that comment hasn't been moticed by many people yet. It's such a simple thing, but it makes me rethink my own opinions on social status. Like your content and agree with your points tho.

What's interesting here is that even if an animator spent thousands of dollars, years, got a group together, worked on this project with all their heart and soul If someone like Markiplier reacted to it, they would get all the views while having done no work while your animation sits in the hundreds. But youtube or tiktok or any of these sites have always been a popularity contest. it doesn't matter what you do, it matters how popular you are. People will defend popular people as if they knew them when they don't, as if the popular people cared about them which they don't. Some fans seem to defend popular people as if their lives depend on them for some reason. Which always kinda sucks. It would be nice if true good works would be promoted by the original creators on KZbin. It would be nice if KZbin never recommended popular people or reaction vids. Give other people a chance.

The payout from these platforms has always been a concern of mine along with the promotion of theft. With how little these platforms pay for these short-form videos, creators have to spam their channels with as many videos as possible to make any income. Since we see a high volume of spammed content, these platforms see a higher volume of traffic, allowing them to take these new artificially inflated numbers to investors and rake in a higher profit. The problem is that creators get paid less, these platform heads get paid more, and we see a degradation in the quality of the content provided on these platforms. This mixed with the meta currently being theft (as its the easiest form of content to spam), only works out for the heads to not do anything about it which is why I'm glad creators are finally discussing it. This video was really well put together. Good job friend

So someone who is interested in dinosaurs is not allowed to talk about or learn about any creature from that period? Aside from the ones that are regarded as non-avian dinosaurs?
@Ditsick
@Ditsick 5 ай бұрын
@@itsgonnabeanaurfromme Sorry if that got to you. I didn't mean to attack anyone, what I intended to say was just that it's not a dinosaur. I would never mind if someone talked about them, and it would be petty to ask that dinosaurs are always separated from other big creatures from the same era. A lot of people tend to not realize though, and lump every creature under the term "dinosaur". I'm just waving a flag to make people notice that dinosaur is a very specific term and doesn't apply to any prehistorical animal, because it wasn't specified. Of course I'm not asking either that it's always specified. I think just a single comment to say it is enough in many cases. However, I would like you not to take it too personal every time. It is a single comment made with no malicious intentions, only to point a specific detail for those who aren't aware that dinosaur is a term that exclusively designates terrestrial creatures, amongst other criterias. If you're interested, here are the other criterias: as you'd expect, a dinosaur is a reptile. However, some of them developed feathers on top of scales for insulation purpose, or for gliding. None of them actually flew, though. They are only terrestrial, although there are a few borderline examples like the ones that glide, or the spinosaurus that lived very close to an aquatic lifestyle. Then they have parasagittal limbs, which means the rear members are parallel to front members. This allows faster running and nowadays many quadrupeds have the same feature. Also, they belong to a group called archosauruses. It includes the ancestors of crocodiles and many other reptilian categories. Finally, they have to have lived during the Mesozoic, also called the Secondary. It's the second era of life on Earth. If a species didn't live during that era, they're ruled out of being a dinosaur. We're currently in the Quaternary era, the fourth one. Birds aren't dinosaurs. Some people like to word it that way, but it's entirely false. Birds aren't reptiles, they didn't live during the Mesozoic, they're not terrestrial creatures and their limbs aren't parasagittal. A better way to word it is that bird descend from dinosaurs, but it's not accurate either. Birds only evolved from a single dinosaur, that was part of one of two divergences of one of the two main classes of dinosaurs. This single animal that evolved into a bird has all the credits for it. The fact that it was also a dinosaur is irrelevant, but people are stuck on mentioning this fun fact over and over. Dinosaurs were separated into 2 categories, "bird hips" and "reptile hips". Fun fact: the animal that evolved into birds wasn't even part of the "bird hips" faction, but that of the "reptile hips". There are many other details that make it completely disconnected to claim that birds descend from dinosaurs. This is the kind of general misconceptions that I want to prevent, even if just a little. So please don't get offended from a single comment made in all good will.

The issue isn't just that you won't watch the original after watching a reaction. @@jackbequick Nah, I was just pointing out that SadToffee isn't actually making the case they think they're making here. Reaction channels can actually serve a valuable purpose in generating what's called "earned advertisement", spreading awareness about things that other people might not encounter. It also helps boost entire subjects in algorithms for social media feeds. This works _particularly_ well for little bits of information or advertisement for video games, music, and artists. However, it's intensely negative for long-form videos or content where the main draw is a story... The kind of stuff you would normally enjoy alone and wouldn't seek to revisit and share with friends. It's detrimental in that case. This whole genre is actually very nuanced. Properly thought out reaction channels can create a mutually beneficial ecosystem for all involved parties.. However, poorly thought out ones created with lazy and selfish intentions waste valuable server storage and pollute our collective unconscious. Just like any low-brow content, really.

This was a certified knee slapper as well as a really well said, animated, voice acted and overall created video. I've been making videos for most of my life and always did it as a way to self express and to become better at something and the reason I'm making content with creativity to it is because I grew up on creators who made really amazing videos that inspired me to create something in the hopes I could make something as good someday. I feel bad for all the young people who are exposed to low quality and stolen content for the most part and never feel that excitemend and inspiration from incredible videos because they only use youtube shorts, tiktok and instagram reels and don't get that impact that long format has had on me.

They didn't just slap people down into chairs to watch videos, they also interviewed them, had them express their feelings about the topic before and after viewing the video in discussion. They also didnt just show the entire video, but just the parts where the people watching had the most interesting responses. And above all that, they also gave proper credit, showing the title and creator in both the video itself and the description with a link. It felt less like a reaction and more like a discussion piece, and I remember that being one of my favorite parts of their videos back when I watched them.

Watch parties are a very enjoyable form of social interaction for me. Getting in a discord call with a handful of close friends and watching the stuff that I personally think they would enjoy seeing has been a great and engaging way to spend our time and enjoy each other’s shared emotional responses. React streams seem like this concept except with all the actual personal relationship side of things stripped out. Another thing I enjoyed about react content before it blew up, was seeing a particular piece of media (like shows or animations or game moments), enjoying the everloving crap out of it, and looking to react videos to ride that high a bit longer, to watch other people get the joke or feel the same emotions I did while getting to rewatch the content. While this is a valid use case, it doesn’t really apply if reaction content is made the *first* exposure to the media. One thing I feel would help is normalization of “watch the original first”, if more platforms *by default* had an easy to use link to the original content.

Watch the original first still doesn't solve the issue, these videos of reactions somehow have millions of views, this pushes it in the algorithm and gets rid of actual creators having the possibility of getting their video clicked on, there is a limited amount of videos that KZbin can show a person on the homepage, therefore having any react videos damages everyone.

YES YES 9000% YES! While it’s not quite the same, the edutainment coding platform Scratch allows people to remix each other’s projects, but whenever they do, the site automatically provides a handy link to a visual aid to see how many people remixed it, if what you’re watching is a remix, and of course, the original version at the root of all the iterations! And each username on the visual is a link to each respective version! If KZbin, TwitterX, and TikTok had an easy, automatic link to the original and/or the requirement for creators to leave a link to the original source of a reaction or other video, that can certainly help! It’s not perfect, (and Scratch is not the same kind of website as places like KZbin, Rumble, or even Newgrounds) but it would be a good start!

That, and your shouting not blowing out your levels or decibel ceiling. Really, you make the bonkers peak heavy delivery go down easier than many creators on this platform who can’t even make their speaking timbre and zero-silence-between-vocal-track splicing bearable (IF YOUR MOUTH DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO BREATHE BETWEEN SENTENCES THEN MY BRAIN DIDN’T HAVE TIME TO ABSORB WHAT YOU SAID FOR GOD’S SAKE STOP CUTTING YOUR EDITS WITH ADDERALL.EXE) Anyway great stuff, man. I would love to see a reaction video of this. In an honest opinion, thanks for doing content and explain opinions with reason and arguments, always glad to see people doing a point in the right way. Hope to keep seeing your vids. Greetings from México. ✌️

My playlist of videos where people are speaking out against plagiarism and the miserable state created by the current nature of online "content" has another perfect addition. Really, truly hope videos like this will continue to be made, recieve the attention they deserve and by proxy allow viewers and consumers the chance to understand the problem and strive to fix it or at least not add to it. Great work circle.

Definitely feel the point at 7:35, I’ve made a few commentary videos like that where I react to Dhar Mann clone videos and even though I threw in jokes and stuff I still felt like I didn’t actually “make” anything. I’m more proud of my 7 second sh*tposts than those videos. This video so good and I can’t imagine how long it took but thank you and the goblin team for making it 🙏

I do my absolute best to make original content regardless if people watch it or not, and I was slowly feeling like my stuborness of "self made" was stupid and I should do more trendy stuff instead. so I'm really glad I saw this video, it gave me back a lot of my pride in the work I do. Thank You CircleToon 🙏

I have the opposite issue of most people on the internet, I cant stop watching videos over 30minutes or at least above 10 mins because they simply feel like they have more substance and weight to them, I find them meaningful while those shorts are basically drugs that turn your brain into a mush. I have never downloaded tiktok or accessed that website for once in my life and I actively avoid shorts. Which to be honest, it feels amazing because I am hundred percent aware that I am missing nothing. Most short contents are monetary tricks generated by the knowledge we have about human brain and how it functions.

There are a few funny ones out there, but by a few, I mean very very few. I only watch what my friends send me, since someone else with a similar sense of humor has already deemed it funny enough to be worth going out of their way to share.

I had a similar experience after growing up reading bite-sized news articles, and then ended up reading a very lengthy article one day (can't remember what publication--maybe the New Yorker?) and realized all the detail and nuance I was missing with these articles that are 2-5 paragraphs long. By the way, can you recommend any channels with long videos? I love channels that investigate a particular topic in detail. For example, LEMMiNO

there's far more to critique about the trend towards lazy, low effort gratification posting than can really be summed up in a video or comment, but you did a great job at covering the outline of it here. what really brought my attention to this issue was Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy back in like, 2014. it is sincerely worth looking up a transcript or watching the full monologue from that game. the concept of putting such sincere and passionate writings behind the facade of a recycled rage game both helps his point, and also made it pretty easy to overlook what he was saying there. it's really stuck with me all these years and shifted me much more towards a focus in crediting those who MAKE what they put out

Honestly a really perfect video discussing reaction content! What you said at 7:47 really summarizes the issue I have with reaction content as a whole: It's built on the backs of people who created the content you reacted to in the first place. The lines of what is transformative and what isn't when it comes to reaction content has been blurred for a looong time now, and I hate that EVERYONE has been doing this. If you're making a reaction video, unless it's a video where your reaction actually matters (like a tribute or something) then it is just not content. It's theft. More people ought to call out big creators for doing this honestly. It isn't just people like xQc or SSSniperwolf who are contenders, even respected creators on the platform like Critikal have been doing this. Really good video, thanks for delving into this topic.
