TRUE STORY: In the early 80s I raced the most popular road-race class there was in AFM & ARRA which was 400cc Production. Of course, I had an RD-400. At the time I was in the top 3 in So Cal. and one of the rivals was Ed Tummy who owned a motorcycle shop. It was rumored that Ed had a lot of dirty secrets on his RD that made his bike go just a little faster than anyone running in the top five. Keep in mind this class was so popular that often more then 50 bikes showed up and they often had to split and start in two waves! So, if you were in the top 10 you were really fast. In the top 5 you were freak fast. Anyways, I was racing at Willow Springs with two laps to go and I was in 2nd place, about to reel in the leader as we were going into turn 4 (horse shoe), at the top of the hill. When I realized that this whole time I have not seen Ed Tummy, which by now would have definitely been in the lead. So I figured he crashed or had mechanical problems. So just as I started to pass the leader on the down hill from turn 4, thinking "I GOT THIS!" When I felt a pat on my ass, and it was Ed Tummy blowing right past me..! To this day, I have no idea how he managed to pat my ass, and blow by me so fast as I was going balls out coming off turn 4. AND I THOUGHT I WAS GOING FAST, it just freaked me out and almost crashed. I did manage a 2nd.

@danielsotelo3942 Жыл бұрын
@@oliverwhittington9461 Hello Whittington, I don't know your age, or if you have any experience riding a motorcycle. But I can tell you really want to live that dream, so here's my advice... Get your self a small 80 ~ 100cc motocross/off-road motorcycle and really learn how to ride the fenders off that tiny bike. Off roading teaches you how to slide a bike and know the limits of what a general road motorcycle can and cannot do. Once you learn on this small off road M/C find out what is the smallest cc road-racing class there is. I think they have a 125cc road race class, which will be more than enough to get your adrenaline rush. If you do get to this point, what you do the first year is sit back in the back of the pack and just learn how to go faster and faster every time you go out to the track. DO NOT TRY TO GO OVER YOUR HEAD, stick to your small bike for at least 2 years. I promise you will learn and improve to the point where eventually you will find yourself in the lead pack, and who knows maybe podium a few times. Let me tell you, there's nothing like riding on a track which is nothing like normal roads, because you learn the same turns over and over so you learn to go faster and faster with in your own limits. And there is one rule you MUST FOLLOW when on a track, never look back or think about who is behind you, you must focus 100% on what is in front of you, and they have to go around you as you hold your line. YOU CAN DO THIS. Dan
