This was created/written by Jesse Armstrong, and the whole 'ceaseless stream' thing is basically a continuation of the style pioneered in The Thick of It (which Armstrong was heavily involved in), then done in Veep (created by Armando Ianucci, also involved in Thick of It). Watch those, and you'll see the lineage. Wasn't aware McKay had any major role in this beyond executive producer?
