People should bring their dogs to the vet every once in awhile when there isn't problems. Let them get used to the smells and the building without being associated with anything negative. Call ahead to make sure it's okay (it should be fine) and what the protocols are. If they let you, bring treats and have them give the treats to them. Probably even more important when you have huge dogs like some in this video. Would make both your life and the vets life easier. Not to mention not stress your dog out so much.
@Cookie-zz2mg2 ай бұрын
we did that - I doesn't work. Now don't get me wrong it surely works for some dogs but mine knew exactly when we were there for treats and pets and when for check ups. likely because my body language gave it away. I have no idea but she knew. Maybe she also knew if she wasn't feeling well we would go there - i have no idea.

My last cat loved going to the vet. He would attack anyone who tried to handle him except for the vet and would purr the whole time while being examined. He died over 10 years ago and I miss him every time I look at the scars on my arms.

I like those golden retrievers so much, seem like great dogs. When I was 5 I got attacked by one, tore my thigh open so I’ve always avoided them, little bit of minor ptsd going in with that.
@ALightThroughTheDarkness3 ай бұрын
Weird - usually Goldens aren't aggressive. They only become aggressive if they view you as aggressive and even then, most goldens have a 'pet and love' disposition or avoid and run from and they will usually run and avoid before biting. Sounds like the owners of that dog were the problem because generally, a golden doesn't just do that, which means the dog had bad owners or they were not being good owners and making the dog aggressive because I've owned goldens and if they didn't like someone, they ran and avoided. I'm sorry that happened - maybe try again and try to perhaps get one yourself as a puppy or if you know anyone with a golden, get to know it. Just sounds like a bad owner problem if the dog was aggressive and did that to you.
@joshuawesteros53453 ай бұрын
I can tell you exactly what happened but I don’t know why it targeted me. Several neighborhood kids were poking sticks at it and taunting/tormenting it in several ways. I was 40-60 feet away at the base of a pine tree doing stupid kid stuff. To be clear I NEVER teased or tormented animals. It got super pissed off, jumped the fence and came to get my ass. Like I said, no clue why me. 🤷♂️. It turned into a mad minute. Maybe one day I’ll get over it and have a golden but I’m completely in love with beagles and other little hounds/hunting dogs.

@Wyledgirl303 ай бұрын
Y’all, two words; training collar. Teach the dog that YOU are the alpha, not them. I have never had to bodily lift my dog like that, except when she had surgery and was too stoned from the drugs. I also make the vet a place of fun and happiness by bringing them around for pets and treats, not just exams and emergencies. It takes some extra effort, but when you make your dog terrified of a place, that’s on you. Dogs take queues from their pack leader; you stay calm and upbeat, they’ll stay calm. Mine know that visits to the vet mean cuddles, attention, and treats with the occasional discomfort, which is okay because life is like that sometimes.
